Plaxico Burress = Maxwell Smart

Posted on: November 29, 2008 1:54 pm

Boy, that Plaxico Burress sure is a crack shot.

How exactly did he allegedly accidentally shoot himself?

Out of the shotgun?

I can see Burress at the club:

Woman: "Aren't you Plaxico Burress?

Burress: "Why, yes I am. Would you like to dance?"

Woman: "Yes."

(They start to dance.)

Woman: "Is that a gun in your pocket about to discharge or are you just happy to meet me?"

Isn't this type of thing that only happens to Pacman Jones?

As someone who has spent much of his life around guns, from being in the military, to target shooting, I can say this: You have to be an idiot with a bloated sense of fail to accidentally shoot yourself.

A stone, cold careless idiot.

It's good that Burress wasn't seriously injured but excuse me if I don't feel much sympathy for him.

And excuse me while I chuckle.

Said it before and I'll say it again: Athletes and guns are a terrible mix.

Absolutely, positively terrible. Because many of them -- not all -- but many are too arrogant to put the kind of time it takes to be a responsible gun owner.

Dopes and guns don't mix.

Eh, Plax?

I agree, this has nothing to do with ST's shooting due to a botched robbery...Sean Taylor's name should not be mentioned in the same topic as Plax...

Hey Freeman, Crack Shot or Crack Head?

I love the breaking stories on this, each one more funny than the next.  I'm sorry to say it, but I am a fan of these incidents (at least the ones where no one was hurt).  Ralphy shooting his eye out is FUNNY.  Even Brandon Jacobs said Plax thought it FUNNY.  So, I'm laughin too.

The questions I would ask Harris Smith, aka Suge Knight...

Who puts a loaded gun down their pants?
Who puts a loaded gun down their pants without a holster to hold it?
Who puts a LOADED gun down their pants without the SAFETY ON?
Who needs a gun when you are out with a pro linebacker?  Is there a bigger deterrent to a violent altercation than a freak like Pierce?

The question I would ask Pierce...
Why were you the one to notice Plax's gun slipping?  Ie, why were you checking out his grip?

How ironic is it that this occured on the one year anniversary week of Sean Taylor's murder.  I understand (or maybe I don't) that these guys need protection.  Let me just say that if you think you need armed protection, hire a danged body guard.  While your at it hire a cheafuer that is also a body guard.  That way he can protect you and drive your drunk ass home so you don't kill somebody.  Think of this way Plax, on the way home, you might get some action in the back seat.

Im not in any way defending him. However, what is the penalty where you live for legally carrying a concealed weapon(providing he has a permit, no one has said anything about that yet) and shooting yourself? Im pretty sur eunless you didn't like yourself and pressed charges against you there is no penalty maybe a disturbing the peace ticket? So, im guessing he wont get any different treatment with the law than you or I would. Although, Id never take a gun out to a nightclub with me. As a Giants fan I dont think it hurts us too bad this year although the double coverage he draws is why others have succeeded this year...i.e. Steve Smith. we are loaded with talented wideouts and Hixon has proved he can step in just fine.

I wonder if Burress carries that gun around in his pocket while "driving his kid to school"?

Sean Taylor keeps coming up because he was shot in the leg.

Any responsible gun owner knows the FIRST rule about guns.  ALWAYS treat a gun as if it is loaded.  Which brings you to the second rule.  Don't point a gun at anything you do not intend to shoot.  Which leads to a third rule.  Don't put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to pull it.

What was Burress doing?  Playing with the gun?  He really should be prosecuted.  I believe, although I could be wrong, that the term "reckless endangerment" fits this perfectly and is a crime.

I understand why NFL and NBA players carry guns.  Like it or not, it is more of a ghetto culture that these players immerse themselves in.  Dangerous people get jealous of their success, their celebrity, the girls, etc., and want a part of it.  The players do have to protect themselves.  I have a great idea on how to do that.  Don't go to nightclubs.  Period.  Have a party at your mansion with people you know, if you really feel the need to party.

It's a vicious cycle, and it's not going to stop anytime soon.  Most of these players have been told from a very young age that they are God's gift to mankind, and tend to act like it.  Couple that with the fact that most of them feel the invincibility of youth, and any little argument can quickly and needlessly escalate to violence and death.  Unfortunately, nobody is teaching these players to just be smart and avoid the situations.

"See Sean Taylor."

Why does Taylor keep coming up in these conversations? You'd think he died in a shootout at a nightclub. You sister****ers need to get a little o' that readin in.

There's a darwinian element to gun situations, sort of a Murphy's Law on steroids. Basically, it goes like this: if you're a dumb enough  superfreak young jeezy to think you need to carry a gun around despite being a millionaire surrounded by bodyguards, you're probably dumb enough to not learn how to use it, and if you're that dumb you probably think you know how to use it because of movies and TV shows, and if you're that dumb you probably will manage to shoot yourself.

and he was in a public place. Nice guy...and the NFL players wonder why they are always targets. It's all hope of the audacity kind...These jokers will never figure it matter how many of them are killed or injured...
