Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

Posted on: January 18, 2009 9:04 pm

He tried to ruin the Super Bowl celebration with his childishness.

In the game, Boldin got into a heated argument with offensive coordinator Todd Haley. After the game, instead of celebrating with his team, Boldin abruptly left the field, then abruptly left the locker room.

It was awful behavior.

Quarterback Kurt Warner also got into an argument with Haley during the game but you didn't see Warner acting like a petulant child afterwards. He celebrated with his teammates and enjoyed the moment.

I have to say in nearly 20 years of doing this, I've never seen a player more concerned about his arguing with a coach over making a Super Bowl.

What Boldin did almost never happens.

Congratulations on making history, Anquan.

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

I have one more comment for this article & Freeman. I noticed Freeman is a Maryland fan, maybe he's anti Seminole! Anyway I think CBS could find someone better to do his job! Look in the mirror Freeman, I bet u see a "jackass'!

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

Cut the man a break! If u rehabbed as hard as Boldin did for the last couple of weeks & u got yourself ready to play game day then of course u would be upset that come crunch time ur standing on the sidelines watching. He showed no ill effects from his injury that I saw during the game. Unless u played the game at his level I don't think we can actually say how he really felt at that time of the sideline blowup. I agree he is feeling the second fiddle syndrome with Fitz tearing every opponent to shreds. But let's give Boldin the benefit of the doubt, that in the heat of the battle he reacted, & of course it was caught on tape for the world to see. It may have seemed TO like but Boldin hasn't ruined locked rooms like TO has in the past. I also think Boldin feels like all he's gone though this season they owed him the right to be on the field as long as he was healthy enough to do his job & I think he was. Let's not forget about the hit that crushed his face less than a couple of months ago! The man came back & played a couple of weeks after major face surgery! I don't think anyone has the right to call this man a Jackass! He's a pro football player who wanted to be in at crunch time. He could play on my team anytime. Cudos to Larry Fitgerald, for he is the best WR I've seen since the Jerry Rice era. The man doesn't drop anything. He has the BEST hands in football period! It also helps having Kurt Warner throwing him the rock, for he is one of the most acurate passers ever. This Raider fan is rooting for the Cards, including Boldin!

Here comes another T.O. whining because the ball wasn' t thrown to him. The better WR was chosen for the task in the game... Fitz....

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

We are all human and I would want Boldin on my team (fantasy or reality). The guy is a gameboy stud!

Stuff happens and we all are blogging about some thing we aren't really privy to, waste no more time on this subject and lets get down to the game ... Play Baby Play! Cool

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

Very qualified, level-headed & well written response Tru2Blu! I hope more people who fly off the handle take notice & read your piece.

As a manager in business I try to be a 'Player Coach' every day, but I do not have to justify every decision I make to my team...now if my boss asks me to; then that is another matter...& I am 'accountable'! I want to work with a passionate staff, I am a passionate manager, but I have been the one chosen to lead my team. There can only be one leader otherwise anarchy takes over and NO team can have success once that happens.

I agree that calling someone a Jackass may be borderline offensive (boo-hoo), it is however hardly vulgar...only then would it be truly asinine.

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

IF i remember correctly Boldin has over a thousand yards. So obviously the teams need him. I know a lot of people are going to disagree with me on this topic but i think it was right for boldin to argue with haley. If boldin is playing than fitzgerald wont always be double covered. Freeman myabe you are the jacka$$.

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

I'm amazed that people have such short memories about this. Yes, I'm defending the unpopular guy right now, but he's been nothing short of professional with this.

He asked for a new contract or to be traded, didn't happen. He then shut his mouth and performed at a top 5 level this season even though he missed a few games due to injury. He was not a distraction or very me first there. He has cited team promises that were broken, which wouldn't suprise me.

He came back from 2 major injuries to make major contributions to his team this year. A busted face that he had fixed without painkillers so he could get back on the field ASAP and a hamstring injury, which he ran through to score a TD against Atlanta. Can we focus on that for a second! Did he make a big deal? No, he got down to business, rehabbed, and put himself in a position to help his team both times.

People point to him not celebrating with his team. If he stuck around, you think the media would have left him alone about the arguement between him and Haley? He left ASAP to avoid tainting the celebration with the negative spin of his arguement. But, low and behold, since the Media has run the "Nobody believed in us," tagline to death for the cards and need something to talk about for 2 weeks which is why this is getting massive airplay.

As I mentioned in my previous post, if you think he's a jackass or a distraction or a me-first kind of player, you're sadly mis-informed. Until last week's game, he was the team-first tough receiver. How bout people question Haley's play calling? In a must score drive, he swept the ball with his power back in a 4th and 1 situation, ran twice and called a screen that fooled no one from the 9, and had his second best receiver on the sideline. The afformentioned screen scored because of great blocking and great effort from Tim Hightower.

Bottom line, Boldin has been a Cardinal for his 6 year career and been nothing but a good teammate and professional. For those who think differently, go ahead and take the going rate for primadonna receivers (4th round pick for Moss/T.O last time they were traded), and watch Boldin tear up your secondary when you play against him.
