Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

Posted on: January 18, 2009 9:04 pm

He tried to ruin the Super Bowl celebration with his childishness.

In the game, Boldin got into a heated argument with offensive coordinator Todd Haley. After the game, instead of celebrating with his team, Boldin abruptly left the field, then abruptly left the locker room.

It was awful behavior.

Quarterback Kurt Warner also got into an argument with Haley during the game but you didn't see Warner acting like a petulant child afterwards. He celebrated with his teammates and enjoyed the moment.

I have to say in nearly 20 years of doing this, I've never seen a player more concerned about his arguing with a coach over making a Super Bowl.

What Boldin did almost never happens.

Congratulations on making history, Anquan.

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass ..........(NOT REALLY)

People, First and foremost I offer an non bias response/comment on this topic. I am not a Cardinals fan (I’m a niner fan). Boldin is not a jackass. I've heard all types of opinions and comments about Boldin, his play, his attitude, his this and his that. He has been called selfish.....lets address that. Boldin, a 4 time pro-bowl selection easily one of the top 10 receivers in this league has never been referred to as selfish by ANY of his teammates at Florida State<
/st1:place>, or with the Arizona Cardinals. A selfish player would not fight to get back on the field after practically having his face broken a few weeks prior. A selfish player would not fight to get back on the field after a hamstring injury. Larry Fitzgerald is a definite top 3 receiver in this league, but lets be honest here...... Boldin and Fitzgerald on the field together are a much deadlier combo than one without the other, the Cardinals, Falcons, Panthers, and Eagles know this. The guy fought through those injuries to get on the field to help his TEAM win. I've heard that he is upset about his contract.......lets address that. Take your own jobs for instance; if you and one of your co-workers were both performing at an extremely high level and have been consistently for a number of years, wouldn't you want to paid according to your all pro-performance if your co-worker was being paid for his. Wouldn't you be a little upset if your boss told you: "hey, you've been doing a phenomenal job for us and we are going to get you a new deal/raise before the season starts", but that deal/raise never happens?? Would you still want to work for your employer after your contract is up?? Did he do what many of his peers have done in the past which is, not report to training camp and hold out for a new contract? NO, he did not. He reported to camp, left the contract issue alone, worked his BUTT off and has had an all pro type season yet again, despite missing 4 games. You've never heard him complain about him not getting enough balls thrown his way, you've never heard him complain about blocking. Boldin fought through those injuries to be back on the field with his teammates to be on the field, like any GREAT athlete, and PASSIONATE, FIERCE competitor would do. Bottom line is that the guy wanted to be on the field, regardless if was to be used as a decoy, to block or catch a pass, the guy wanted to be on the field just like any other competitor and great player would want to be. What happened on the sideline was unfortunate but as some of you heard the offensive coordinator Todd Haley say referring to himself as a passionate guy that wears his heart on his sleeve, Boldin to is a passionate guy, as Warner, McNabb, Ray Lewis, Payton Manning and many others. As you all know or should now, when you have a passionate competitive players and coaches on the same sideline or in the same room, there will be some "heat of the moment" situations. But that is all it was.....two fierce competitors having a dis-agreement. The timing was unfortunate and to be honest none of us from the outside looking in know the REAL STORY. Maybe there was some wrong doing on both sides. The important thing is that both Haley and Bolding understand each other, and know that what happened was just one unfortunate incident. They've put it behind them and are now on the same page and have one goal in mind.................... WINNING THE SUPER BOWL. The jackass comment may not have been deserved, and was probably not necessary. Maybe Mike Freeman reacted irrationaly like Boldin, and Haley and wrote the jackass coment "in the heat of the moment" as well, but what was said has been said, and now in the past and we should all let it go.................

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

It's just Freeman's opinion like all of our opinions. Jealousy is another reason it will be the Steelers in the end as they. they are the journeyman, play as a team, been there---done that and know how to win.

Very glad Warner was able to show his stuff. always glad to see people show others that they still have it.

one of the commentators said he was an uncle tom....time to get off that crap....I'm really very tired of hearing that.

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

Calling Boldin a jackass?? This coming from the Jackass that called out Tiger Woods for not trying to use his celebrity to push his political beliefs on the country. You're a total ass!

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

I think you are the Jackass, Freeman because there is no need to refer to Boldin with this type of name. I do agree that Boldin should have celebrated with his teammates and dealt with the coach later but when you look at what Boldin has done to play versus just sitting out and collecting a paycheck I think he deserves better than to have some sportswriter call him a name. Freeman, you and Jason Whitlock are the kind of black men that feel obligated to criticize other black people just to show white people you're capable of doing that as a sort of piece offering and that behavior sickens me. Boldin was wrong but he would not be the first because I think some of us remember Jeff George but then you wouldn't have the courage to call him a name because it wouldn't endear you with the white community and that's important to so many of you sportswriters versus just reporting on sports. You should take Boldin's name out of the blog title and replace it with yours and Keyshawn Johnson's.

Anquan Boldin is a Jackass

For once I agree with Freeman. That was unbelievable to me to see Boldin fighting with and distracting his offensive coordinator when the guy is trying to call a game to get to the Super Bowl. I respect Boldin for what he has done in the past and what he has gone through this year but c'mon, to pick that time/moment to jump on your coach is unacceptable. Maybe the guy let his emotions get the best of him. I mean seriously, the guy has overcome a ton this year so he should be cut some slack. At the same time, he needs to make amends for what he did Sunday and get back to being a team player and show some class at least for two weeks (hey Anquan, EVERYONE is going to be watching).

By the way, you really can't blame the o coordinator. He has a job to do and I am sure he is just trying to win, especially at that moment.

Moreover, whoever makes excuses for Boldin and especially plays that worn out, stupid race card should get their head out (of the sand (trying to be polite)). Hey, you know what buddy...Turn on the inauguration today and see if you can try to get on board with the whole "We are one" movement. It's a nice thought/aspiration.
