Disgusting Party at Nebraska -- Update

Posted on: February 4, 2009 4:40 pm

The University of Nebraska has asked the poster of an item on Facebook to remove the entry.

The item was a party invitation and it appears below. It was tasteless and crude. Referring to a woman as a "hoe" is never a good thing.

More importantly, a number of Nebraska football players had accepted invitations to the party.

The Nebraska athletic department was not amused after discovering the party invite and asked whoever put it up to take it down.

It's gone.

Good for Nebraska.

Tolerating that kind of attitude towards women is unacceptable. That's the kind of attitude that produced such Nebraska class acts as Christian Peter and Lawrence Phillips.

Nice to see this version of the Nebraska athletic department understands that.

Disgusting Party at Nebraska -- Update

Here is an online petition to fire Freeman. I would laugh if it worked. Is he really the father of Josh Freeman from KSU? That would explain a lot...

ummmm... its college...

do you know how many disgusting parties I went to in college?

seriously... jello wrestling parties were more tasteful... even when the dumb blonde and brunettes actually ripped each other's tops off, and took pics of themselves sucking each other's hoots...

those were the most tasteful parties i experienced...

so, if you do not want these athletes to be a part of the student body (as well)... america should "suck it"... And let 20k+ student bodies get "disgusting"...  sidenote...  sidenote...  sidenote...

EVERYBODY IN COLLEGE IS A HOE (male and female)!!  Refer to "OPP" naughty by nature...  Facebook journalism is VERY sad.

By the way...

You've got some nerve insulting the people who read your "news". I wonder how much business our local news paper would retain if on the front of the opinion page it said "People reading our news paper idiotees of the idiots writing it!" You're pathetic Mr. Freeman, you really are.

Disgusting Party at Nebraska -- Update

This is the kind of journalistic trash that upsets me. A "number" of Nebraska players had accepted invites. Is facebook still your source on this? Perhaps you'd like to list those players and your proof so that you don't continue to look like journalistic dog poo. Congrats on bringing up LP and CP. Perhaps you'd like me to drag your past through the mud. Maybe your family? I know what your problem is Mr. Freeman, its that your son Josh Freeman, QB at Kansas State, originally committed to Nebraska, and the broke his word and went to Kansas State. Someone willing to break his word to one university and go to another. Now he's saying thanks for the scholarship, I'm headed to the NFL and leaving Kansas State high and dry. Boy what quality kids you've raised!

Doesn't feel so good to have someone use actual facts against you, while you use Facebook against the University of Nebraska. I bet the same could be done about 90% of the universities in this country, but you pick on Nebraska, and I'm sure its all for personal bias. By the way, the PLAYERS stood up for Lawrence Phillips and kept him on the team, not the Athletic Department. Tom Osborne was ready to uphold the suspensions, but his players, as a united group, wanted their friend and brother on the field to be with them. The team captains voted and it was unanimous to keep him with them and allow him to play. So stop dragging our Athletic Department through the mud and get on with some real journalism, not this trash you call news.

Disgusting Party at Nebraska -- Update

It looks like Freeman not only is a lazy writer and potential racist. He is also a liar. Here is some info on why our boy Feeman got canned from his last job. Aparently he didn't even graduate from college.. too funny Freeman. Dont mess with people who are smarter than you bro.

Mike Freeman from CBS Sportsline BUSTED lying about resume

Puffed-Up Risumi Costs Sportswriter a New Job

By Howard Kurtz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, January 10, 2004; Page C04

A longtime New York Times sportswriter who left to join the Indianapolis Star has resigned from his new job after admitting that he falsified his résumé.

Mike Freeman, who covered professional football and basketball and did investigative reporting at the Times, apologized for telling the Star that he was a graduate of the University of Delaware. He said he attended the school for four years but did not graduate.

"These were lies," Freeman, 37, said in a statement posted on the Web site He added: "This was a terrible and unforgivable manipulation of the facts. . . . It was the only time I have told such falsehoods and no other deceptions have ever appeared in any of my newspaper stories or two books at any time in my 16 years of practicing journalism. Nevertheless, the information I gave the Star was wrong and I will be punished with the loss of my newspaper career."

Star Editor Dennis Ryerson said in an interview yesterday that he had accepted the resignation, although this was "a bit awkward" because Freeman had not yet started his job as a columnist.

"The message is, he will not be working at the Star," he said. "I'm very sorry about the way it turned out." Ryerson added that a college degree is not required to work at the Star, and in fact, he does not have one.

Ryerson disclosed the news to readers through the paper's Web site yesterday afternoon.

Freeman worked for The Washington Post in 1988 and again from 1990 to 1992, covering pro football. He has also written for the Dallas Morning News and Boston Globe. Freeman is the author of "Bloody Sundays: Inside the Dazzling, Rough-and-Tumble World of the NFL," published last year, and the 2000 book "ESPN: The Uncensored History."

In July, he reported for the Times on allegations of academic misconduct involving Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett.

In his statement, Freeman said "there are no excuses or alibis" for misrepresenting his résumé. "This is my fault and my fault alone. Most of all, I have hurt and disappointed close friends and family, particularly my wife, and for this I am truly sorry. I also want to apologize to the Star."<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________

Disgusting Party at Nebraska -- Update

Facebook is a news source?    No investigation and you blame the University for a person's actions who may or may not even be a student.     is this journalism today?

btw... maybe you can clear the record for all of us, but didn't you lose a job because you lied on your resume?    I saw it on the internet so it must be true....

Disgusting Party at Nebraska -- Update

So, in addition to using a questionable source for a basically non-existant issue, you choose to highlight 2 bad characters who have played for the Huskers as if the entire program is based on thugs.  We're not talking about Miami here.  Nebraska historically has one of the cleanest, most respected athletic departments in the country.  2 bad eggs in 139 years of the football program and you think they're still noteworthy?  Seriously?  Puh-lease!

Disgusting Party at Nebraska -- Update

Disgusting party?  Our world of tip-toeing political correctness has truly monitored the fun out of life when you can't have a 'pimps & hoes' party in college.  An interesting point is that these have been happening forever but our interconnected world forces the University to ackowledge it - and if they are going to ackowledge it they cannot condone it.  File this one under "unintended consequences of social networking".  I do give the Nebraska AD credit for understanding its history and knowing it had no choice.
