Nate Robinson deserved to win Saturday's dunk contest but Rudy Fernandez got royally ripped off.

A victory for Robinson is a victory for the Little People across the world. Good for him. All 2 feet 11 of him.

He was clearly the crowd favorite and saved the dunk contest. It went from mediocre to great because of Robinson.

However...

Dwight Howard shouldn't have been in the final round. No way. He didn't deserve it. Fernandez did.

Fernandez's first two dunks were far more challenging and creative and the judges -- because of bias toward Howard -- gave Fernandez low ball scores of 42 in his first two rounds when Robinson deserved far higher.

Howard got two perfect scores but didn't deserve them.

That was awful. Howard was a legacy pick. The judges wanted him in the final round because he's popular.

That was a G-E-I-C-O conspiracy.

But the dunk contest overall was pretty good and borderline great. Next year it might even be better with the news that LeBron James is planning to compete it. If he does, that will be a ratings bonanza.

In the meantime, with Robinson the new champion, somewhere Gary Coleman is partying like crazy.

I agree with your selection totally!

But you know it will be unlikey... Really wish fans could do a fan vote for dunkers for All Star Dunk contest, granted they are healthy and all..

We would then get our moneys worth. Iggy would be my vote, especially since he was robbed and should come up with something extra special. Nate did the same dunk he did against Iggy today... boo!

Go Philly!

Yeah, the guy who followed the rules and in one of his final two attempts had the best dunk of the first round. I honestly believe tonight's dunk contest was all set up so we could see Dwight and Nate in their Superman battle. They put on a heck of a show, but why invite the other guys if their dunks aren't even given a chance?

i agree 100%. Derrick Rose's skills challenge dunk was better than any dunk in the actual dunk contest

nate robinson's first two dunks were not very good. it should hav ebeen howard and rudy in the finals because dwight's dunk on the 12 foot rim was pretty ridiculous and rudy's second dunk was unbelievable (albeit on his 30th attempt). why would dwight go for that last dunk in the finals though? he should've just thrown it off the backboard of a 13 foot hoop and slammed it home.

The Man of Steel did deserve to be in the finals, however it was Nate Robinson that didn't deserve it. The ninja turtle's first round dunks were unmemorable and lackluster. On his first dunk, it was just a lesser version of JRs dunk to say the least. And the 2nd, was a dunk 8th graders do when there bored in gym. Who honestly couldnt do tht dunk? It seemed to be a cheap scandal of preplanned hypocrisy. The whole kryptonite deal was probably set up from the beginning or else the judges just downright suck. disgusting!!...

The rules are that a player gets 2 minutes, then 2 dunks.  He got ROBBED!!!  But Nate and Dwight were good in the finals, no way he would have beaten them in the finals.

very disappointing dunk contest. nothing was worthy of a fifty. dwight deserves credit for the 12 foot rim because it's never been seen before. JR smith was a non factor. nate should not have been in the final. the jump off the back of wilson chandler was quite possibly the worst completed dunk in the history of the contest. me and my buddy did that in the middle of a game in a rec league after we finished  our senior season in high school. it was incredibly easy in the middle of a game. it's a joke that it could be done in a dunk contest and be considered a quality dunk. it should have been rudy vs. dwight in the final. obviously you dont know who woulda won that because you dont know what else rudy had, but based on what dwight did (it seemed like he was holding back to me from some of the other stuff ive seen him do), rudy very well could have won.

it's a shame nate wont ever win a dunk contest for actually doing the best dunks. lebron being lebron will out do nate winning just because he's short.

considering their ages and physical state (meaning no VC) i think the best contest would be

lebron

dwight (provided he doesnt hold back, just seemed like he gave it up to me)-if he doesnt wanna do it give rudy another chance

josh smith

andre iguodala

or maybe if nate wins 2 more times they can just do a dunk contest of the 4 guys that should have won over robinson
