Nate Robinson deserved to win Saturday's dunk contest but Rudy Fernandez got royally ripped off.

A victory for Robinson is a victory for the Little People across the world. Good for him. All 2 feet 11 of him.

He was clearly the crowd favorite and saved the dunk contest. It went from mediocre to great because of Robinson.

Dwight Howard shouldn't have been in the final round. No way. He didn't deserve it. Fernandez did.

Fernandez's first two dunks were far more challenging and creative and the judges -- because of bias toward Howard -- gave Fernandez low ball scores of 42 in his first two rounds when Robinson deserved far higher.

Howard got two perfect scores but didn't deserve them.

That was awful. Howard was a legacy pick. The judges wanted him in the final round because he's popular.

That was a G-E-I-C-O conspiracy.

But the dunk contest overall was pretty good and borderline great. Next year it might even be better with the news that LeBron James is planning to compete it. If he does, that will be a ratings bonanza.

In the meantime, with Robinson the new champion, somewhere Gary Coleman is partying like crazy.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with Freeman, but he is absolutely correct. Rudy's dunks were spectacular and he should have been in the final round around againstt Dwight. The judges rigged it so that they could have a David vs Goliath type headline for the media to write about.

Ok first I would like to say Nate tore it up in the final round.  Having said that, it was him who shouldn't have been there, not Dwight.  Nate's two first round dunks were pretty unspectacular.  He did the same dunk JR Smith did in the first round but without the double bounce and somehow scored 3 points higher than Smith.  The final should've been Rudy against Dwight not Rudy against Nate.  Again, I don't wanna take anything away from Nate's win, his final round dunks were amazing (in my opinion).  I just think the best dunks in the first round were Rudy's and Dwight's

The nate over dwight dunk wasn't all that great. I wished JR Smith would have tryed the behind the back dunk a couple more times, that would have been the best of the night. I agree Rudy's dunks were better than Dwight's first two.  I think Lebron would dominate if he went for it in '10. There was a guy on youtube that was lobbying to be put into the nba dunk contest this year named Guy Dupuy. Check him out.

Wow, what a bummer for Fernandez. Sounds like the dunk contest was awesome though!

Next year I'll have to make sure I'm free to watch it. Today I was too busy watching paint dry in the morning, and sticking toothpicks in my eyes in the afternoon.

So hard to prioritize. I'll try and catch it next year.

Ya know what I think would make it more interesting? The winner of the dunk contest's team's conference gets home court in the finals.

YES! Rudy Fernandez's dunks were sick, and he definitely deserved higher.  The first one he threw it off the backboard while running BEHIND HIS BACK then threw it down one-handed from the opposite side.  The second one didn't look as impressive but was still very technical.  Dwight Howard's dunks were very dominant, but just not that difficult (for a 6-foot-10 freak athlete at least).  Plus, Rudy Fernandez is white.

I don't normally agree with you Freeman, but this is spot on.

Thank god Nate won, he def. deserved it over Dwight. No offense, but 50 on Dwight's first dunk was complete B.S. It was probably the worst of the night yet not only it got the highest score, it got a perfect 50, which means it is one of the top dunks ever. Rudy was completly snubbed, and i felt that his 2nd dunk was probably the best out of the bunch, yet it recieved no 10s.

And Dwight's 12 foot dunk, while nobody else but himself could probably do it, there was no show on that one. He made it look dull and easy. The TNT crew said they were all silent and breathless after that dunk, but i say that is because it was actually quite boring.

Overall, today's events were so underachieving. Shooting stars - complete waste.

I agree completely. Next year they should actually have proper judges like, Dr. J, Bill Russell, MJ, Chocolate Thunder, and Dominique wilkens. The judges this year were hopeless.
