Will Mike Vick be back? It seems likely, but...

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is leaning towards reinstating Michael Vick, two league sources told, though no final decision has been made and Vick's future in professional football is far from certain.

Two league sources stressed that Goodell hasn't officially decided on whether to allow Vick back into football, contradicting an ESPN report that Goodell has decided to conditionally reinstate Vick and suspend him four games.

But those sources also said that signs seem to be pointing to Vick returning. Again, the situation remains extremely fluid, the sources said, and they stressed that Goodell is still weighing several factors that could change his mind.

The action Goodell is considering, the sources said, is similar to what's Pete Prisco wrote earlier this week. Goodell might allow Vick to sign with a club as soon as next week but not actually reinstate him until a much later date and not announce that date until a later point in time.

Thus even if teams wanted to sign Vick -- and there's no indication that's the case -- few would risk adding him to their training camp roster this season without knowing when he'd be reinstated.

If the scenario that the sources are outlining is accurate it could be months before Vick ever sees a down in the NFL (and again that's if a team even wants to sign him).

"If I was Michael Vick," a source said, "I'd be thinking more about 2010."

One person helping Vick greatly is Tony Dungy, the former Indianapolis Colts coach, one of the all-time classy coaches in football history. Dungy has publicly recommended that Vick be allowed to return and Goodell has strongly considered Dungy's words, sources said.

The sources also confirmed published reports that Vick and Goodell met in New Jersey on Wednesday.

Will Mike Vick be back? It seems likely, but...

I want to see the best players playing in the league with the best players.

He is one of the best right now. (At least he was when he was arrested)

So I want him reinstated. I think most fans believe that to be the case.

Most people and the law think he committed a crime and paid more than his debt to sosciety and the league.

A convicted child molester cannot be a teacher. A convicted armed robber cannot work in a gun store.

I get it. But The guy is one of the best to play the game. The game and the league is there for our entertainment and we as the consumers should be rallying behind him sonce he has paid his debt and make sure the league allows him to opportunity to get hired by another company to play a game and entertain us.

I'm not saying what he did is ok I'm just saying at some point people should let it go.

As far as antitrust laws go, I think this is a far stretch for that. I also think that the label placed on people convicted of some cimes goes beyond what it should.

Everyone alive has done something that could have made them a felon at some point in there life. For people to treat someone like this because some people do it over and over again is ridiculous and is one of the problems our sosciety has.

Hey killacrump,

I am an idiot?  Maybe so!! But I am also educated and financially well-to-do.  I can promise you that people like me (and have no doubt - we are legion) will make sure that Michael Vick will be a distraction to any team that takes him.  We will be there.

I work for a fortune 500 company and we get suspended or fired if we receive a DUI.  This is a very common practice.  You are required to self report any legal matters (family law excluded), and if you fail to do so, that is cause for possible termination as well.  I can tell you with 100% certainty that I would be fired from my company permanently if I were to have been convicted of operating a dogfighting ring.  It might not sound fair but it is more common than you may think.

What Michael Vick did was wrong, but to see him villified to this extend is beyond ridiculous.

So he killed several dogs. Heaven forbid he killed a cow or a chicken, because if he did that, he'd be...American.

Yes animals should be treated responsibly and what Vick did was far from that. His actions were irresponsible and it stops there.

Michael Vick should be reinstated into the NFL.

The PR circus that accompanies him would likely scare away most if not all potential suitors, but this man deserves a shot at redemption like everyone else.

I hear the Bengals could use a backup to Carson Palmer...

Will Mike Vick be back? It seems likely, but...

I have officially given up on the world of idiots that live here in the U.S. Yes the man was dogfighting yes he was the mastermind but he did his time it is over. Why the hell is nobody fighting this hard about stallworth he killed a human not animals once again not saying it was right. He was also drunk and high. Now somebody posted not rehiring criminals or not hiring them period well I must say unless you have a small business with less then 2 people your gonna have some kind of criminal working for you. Everybody has sometime in there life done something that is criminal either driving with a little to much to drink  smoking some weed sometime or stole something. Oh you have not done any of that what about lying about a kids age to get a discount when your out some were or download a song from a sharing site. I am a firm believer that we all have lacked judgement at points in are life. You take a young man and give him fame and millions of dollars and he thinks that he is king and can do anything. So let Mike alone he messed up we all know it but cry about other stuff go fight for cures on cancer or something that helps human kind. Because of Micheal Vicks arrest and the dogfighting they have shut down other dog fighting rings it opened the world's eyes so he might have actually done the dogs a favor because now people know its real and that it could happen to anyone anywere not some poor people down south. So everybody needs to go complain about Big Ben he may have or may have not raped a girl but that does not matter because criminal charges will never be brought up. There may have been a cover up of it I don't know I was not there but I will tell you one thing you can have my dog bella right now and fight her all day long and it will not mean a thing to me compared to if you would go and rape or in stallworths case kill my wife or my kids or any other family member. So like I said its over he did he's time he served if you don't know it you should that he is not gonna do it again he has the world up his ass. Let Mike go play football and live what life he can have left knowing that even if he comes back he has already ruined his chances of being one of the best of all time you can't miss 2 years and make up for it you are only giving a little window of your life that you can play football in the pro's unless your Favre.

It's quite obvious you will never own or run a company based on that assinine comment.   Your employees would walk all over you and your business would eventually fail with that type of attitude at the top.

Whether they are off the job or not, they still represent you.  If they screw up, it reflects on you.  How you handle that situtaion reflects even more on you.

Let's say your top customer (50% of your business) goes into a restaurant with his wife and kids.  Let's say one of your employees is there and he gets so drunk, that he hits on your top customer's wife.   Let's say your top customer recognizes that he works for you.

Now your top customer calls you and says either fire the guy or he'll take his business eleswhere.

Now tell me you would never pass judgment on what your employee does off of the job.

he SHOULD have a second chance, ANYONE that thinks different is simply an idiot!!  The NFL is a business ok superdupe, why would any Business who Fires/suspends you, Have to give you a second chance? If i do something that hurts the face/integrity of my employer/business and are suspended during my 2 year felony prison sentence ,i would not come back with the attitude or mindset that they HAVE/Should let me prove myself and re-hire me.Especially when i lie to the chairmans face and continuously get caught with my hand in the cookie jar "read mitch's post page.1" for that long list of episodes.i don't know what all the fuss is about anyway,it's not like he is a HOF QB anyways, people who think so are delusional.
