LeGarrette Blount: an entire season?

This is one thing we can all agree on: Don King needs to sign LeGarrette Blount.

His boxing name can be LeGarrette "Ducker Punch" Blount.

Where many of us will disagree is the length of the suspension.

A year? A full season? Really?

Not four games or six games but a year?

What Blount did was awful and maybe he's lucky not to be facing assault charges but this continues an argument I've been making recently which is sports leagues and teams are acting with complete impunity when it comes to discipline issues. They're doing what they want with little resistance.

The NFL suspends at will, the NBA does the same, and now college football has joined along.

We've entered a period in sports history where the athletes have almost no rights and there's a mob mentality about disciplining players.

It's the Wild West in sports now when it comes to punishment.

This is no excuse for Ducker Punch Blount. Let's be clear on that aspect.

He's probably going to pay for this mistake much, if not all, of his life.

Blount just became the 21st century Kermit Washington or Marty McSorely. Washington's life was never the same after he sucker punched Rudy Tomjanovich.

In many ways that's going to be punishment enough for Blount.

LeGarrette Blount: an entire season?

This is a great point and curiously missing from this biased article.

LeGarrette Blount: an entire season?

What scares me is the complete and total mental instability shown by Blount.  He was a troublemaker on this team for quite a while.  He had been suspended for breaking team rules.  He goes off and sucker punches another player.  So he is abad apple.  What happened after that showed that he belongs in an anger management class, not a college class.  Going off on his own teammate, the fans, and anyone else near him is a serious sign of mental instability.  Should he be suspended for the rest of the season?  With his track record at Oregon and his lack of self control, absolutely.

Bravo!

Im glad there is finally a reported to tell it like it is! You will receive backlash from this story because of your color, but I think u nailed it dead on! Both should be suspended, and caucasians need to get rid of this double standard. Im sure if both players were caucasian, we wouldn't be discussing felony charges and all this other garbage. If the puncher was caucasian, the black guy would have "gotten what he deserved". Both need to be suspended, in my eyes that's taunting, which is what a player with little or no talent does to make himself feel better about being a subpar athlete. It was a punk move and it really sucks that one guy gets screwed over while another gets a "stern talking to", this is amerikkka!

LeGarrette Blount: an entire season?

what does dogfighting have to do with this article? Let's expose the real reason you wrote this...color! Im sure if this were 2 caucasian players, you wouldn't bat an eyelash. If it was a caucasian that knocked the black guy out...you would be blaming the black guy for instigating it and state he got what he deserved...I believe they both should be suspended!

It's so funny how white people get all "regal", "Politically correct" and do gooders when the situation involves anyone other than someone from their race. I can see through your garbage.

Just be a man and state your real intentions. Im sure you have killed an animal in your lifetime..let's see you do 2 years for it jerkoff!

LeGarrette Blount: an entire season?

They need to be suspended for their actions.  You punch someone in the workplace you get canned, probably arrested and then sued.  Why shouldn't those rules apply to ball players and athletes?

LeGarrette Blount: an entire season?

Man please stop talking about Michael Vick! He did not assault anyone or punch anyone. By the way, let's take a look in your closet, what have you done illegal? What gives you the right to sit on your high horse and look down your nose at someone who's more athletically gifted than you. They are human, just as we all are, and being human you are prone to make mistakes..but i forgot you are perfect and deserve to sit at your cpu and pass judgement on people you have never and never will meet in your life. You sir, are a lose!

LeGarrette Blount: an entire season?

REALLY? Are you really defending this guy.  One, his life isn't over.  He should move on and do as most of us after college and find another line of work.  Two, HE ISN'T IN JAIL!  Go sucker punch someone tonight at a bar and see where that gets you.  It's probably not asked to leave and never comeback with a sympathetic pat on the back.  Blount doesn't have the self control to play a sport that is violent and requires you to relax.  To be frank, I would have done the same as Blount if Hout had gotten in my face as so.  Some people NEED to be taught a lesson and sometimes when youre the teacher, you lose.  Yes Hout needs to be disaplined a good 4 game suspension would probably do.  His hurting pride just isn't enough to evoke the severity of some upper-middle class turd crapping on a game and having the audasity to feel he had the right to act like a 5 yr old who just won his first t-ball game.  And he did get what he deserved.  I wanted to cheer for Boise.  I wanted to see them play Texas for the BCS Championship(long shot I know, but I would have enjoyed it).  But, now, NO!  If Boise thinks that making him run laps is enough they are sadly mistaken.  SUSPEND HOUT FOR 4 GAMES. And unfortunatley, good riddance to Blount.
