Browns finally do something right

This is a sentence you'd thought you'd never read: the Browns were smart.

The Unbelievable Mr. Arrogant -- Eric Mangini -- did the correct thing in shipping pretty boy wide receiver and Denzel Washington-wanne be Braylon Edwards to the Jets.

Edwards has hands of stone and thinks more about joining Hollywood after football than getting in the endzone now.

The Jets will discover this as well.

Edwards basically had one superb season, two years ago. Since then, he's been tuuurible.

The good news for the Jets is that the team hasn't yet signed him to a new deal which means he's working on his rookie contract. That gives Edwards incentive to play well this year so he can strike a new deal after the season is over.

Maybe the Jets can get Edwards to do something the Browns never could: play hard all the time.

I just get so tired of getting those top 10 picks in the draft and throwing them away in trades for nothing. I do agree the move needed to made just like Winslow's trade but......

I'm thinking about how Randy Moss played when he was on the Raiders.  Edwards needed a change, and was dogging it.  Mangini absolutely had to get whatever he could for him, because he was never going to perform in Cleveland.  Stuckey is a good slot receiver who is very good for YAC, and Trusnik is a very serviceable ILB, in addition to special teams.  The Jets may end up getting the best of the deal, though, if, like R. Moss, he ends up putting up numbers like he did in 2007.

Not self-promoting or anything but... http://

BKM,

I'm glad they  dealt him SOMEWHERE...ANYWHERE.

A move like this sends a strong message to the rest of the team.

I'm not sure whether Robiskie is ready to step into Edwards' shoes so soon, but he'll have to. I never thought I'd see Robiskie/Massaquoi on the same field so soon, but it certainly looks like that will be the case.

Another overrated Michigan player!!  He's worthless, this could ruin the Jets good start.  And Braylon better hope LeBron doesnt go to the Knicks now.  More night club entertainment on the way to NY to pickup where Plaxico left off.  Have fun NY!

Agreed it is a good move, BE could have been so much more but ultimately it came to this...all I have to say is you have a 1-time pro bowler BE on your team and DA throws for 269 yds on 26 of 48 and not one, NOT ONE, reception or yard is credit to Braylon, that tells you all you need to know, BE is not what he used to be and is not a part of our current our future plans at success, however small lol...I'd much rather see Robiskie and Mass getting playing time and receptions than a lame duck former pro bowler who was gone at the end of the season ne ways, heres to hoping the pick we got is high and turns out to be a solid player in the nfl, so unlike 85% of the selections this organization has made the past decade...

Browns won this one easily, because I don't see Edwards doing any better with Sanchez throwing to him.  The Jets made one of the biggest mistakes ever, bringing in a malcontent onto a team with a leader that isn't the QB.  Sanchez won't be able to control Edwards ups and downs and Braylon won't listen to anyone but a QB.  BADBADBAD move.

Eric Mangini can't get enough of those New York Jets...
Hey Cheeks...

I've been reduced to commenting on blogs, and on "The Dawg Pound" Group page (you should join), due to my work putting the hammer down on message boards.

I agree that he cannot get enough of the Jets.  The LB we got will be nothing but a special teamer.  Chansi Stuckey however, can be a good receiver.  Down the line I see us with a #1 receiver (Massaquoi), and 2 #2 receivers (Robo, and Stuckey).  Then Cribbs as the #4 guy.

This may have restored my faith in Mangini...

What were the draft picks they got? This is a good move for the Browns, agreed. Edwards is awful. He should stick to things he's good at like punching Lebron's 130-pound friends. Chansi stuckey is a solid WR and with Massaquoi playing the way he is, Cleveland is pretty solid at WR. It's the rest of the team that still sucks.

This guy is a clown and now he will see what an unfriendly media will do when he drops his customary 15-20 passes this season.  This looks like revenge for mangenius on the Jets for giving him the ax--He finally has something to smile about now.  Still does not hide the fact that the browns even minus this loser will challenge the lions 0-16 record from last season
