Manny being lazy

This is why Manny Ramirez isn't a leader. Never has been, never will be.

Where was Ramirez when Jimmy Rollins hit a walkoff double to seal a dramatic come-from-behind win in Game 4?

He was in the shower.

His teammates were all watching the game; Ramirez was soaping it up.

"I was out of the game and I went in and showered," Ramirez said. "When I came out, they were coming in and turning off the TVs."

Well, at least you were nice and clean, Ramirez.

Did you use soap or bodywash, Manny?

You've got to be kidding me.

It's the playoffs and Ramirez doesn't care enough to stick around and watch the end of the game?

Nice attitude, nice heart, nice passion.

Manny the Soapy.

No wonder the Dodgers are going out like lambs.

Manny being lazy

At this stage of his career, he's probably thinking go back to where it all began. It's like Griffey Jr. back in Seattle, WA. Manny Ramirez has won his titles and made some excellent money. Perhaps he's tiring of that lifestyle of being in the limelight and just being a role player ?

This made me laugh:

Manny Ramirez asks the first base umpire if he went around on a swing. Many stories depict Ramirez as a carefree individual whose concentration is dedicated solely to playing baseball. One story took place in his early years with the in June 1994. As teammates were gathered in the Indians clubhouse watching news of the Bronco chase, Ramirez asked what was going on. A player responded, "they are chasing O.J.", to which Ramirez responded in disbelief, "What did Chad do?" (in reference to their current teammate ).

Manny being lazy

If the dodgers are dumb enough to get manny and not have a team leader then they are more at fault then manny.  This should be no surprise, I'm not defending him but he is an animal at the plate.  The dodgers got manny because of that one reason and that one reason only.  Team leader?  Who would ever think that of Manny, ever?  He plays with talent, not heart.  He won 2 world series rings and he was a big reason that Boston won both of them.  If you think that they win those 2 world series without him then you haven't been watching baseball.  Ortiz wouldn't have been Ortiz without the fear and attention that was given to Manny.  Don't get me wrong, Ortiz was spectacular but they were the best #3 and #4 hitters in the game and made everyone around them better.  Baseball players get paid for results not for their love of the game, the love of the game is just an added bonus, but not every player is living in a kevin costner love movie.

Manny isn't that much different then alot of people in this country, like it or not, because he's doing a job that he gets paid to do and not doing a job that he loves to do, look around next time you're at work and imagine if everyone there could get paid alot to do what they love to do, and how many people would still be working there?  Don't even start the argument that he would be fired for being lazy especially when he is the best and brightest one in the company and he made more then his manager and that ownership was 100% behind the guy because he improves the profit of the company every day he shows up for work, he wouldn't get fired, it just wouldn't happen period.  You would deal with the quirks because he is a top 10 talent in the world at what he does every year.

Keep yelling and screaming about who Manny is and what he does, but I can guarantee ya that he won't care.  He's gonna make bank and there's nothing you can do about it.  Does his bat make up for all the other crap?  Usually not but in his case, it does.  Every time.  I know that it's a shame but that's just the cold hard facts.

Manny being lazy

The Dodgers knew what they were getting when the picked up Manny.  He's the ultimate ITSALLABOUTME.COM player.  That's why they only signed him for 1-2 years.  He's always been this selfish type of player and always will be.

Ya and you are really smart. Torre is the real deal, as is Jetter and Mo. O'Neill come on. Quit drinking the BS koolaid. Are you that blided by the Yankee BS to not realize Torre was a great manager and Manny has nothing to do with or could he ever taint the Torre legacy. Idiot like you need to say nothing.

Your comments about Manny amount to much ado about nothing. Torre and the rest of the Dodgers didn't give a damn about Manny showering. There's a lot more significant topics to discuss about these playoffs than Manny Ramirez taking a shower. Try using your blog for some candid discussion about real baseball issues. The Dodgers aren't behind in this series because Manny took an early shower.

Lay off the guy. The only reason this is news is because it is Manny. You dont think this happens all the time?? You dont see a breaking news report when this happens in other ball clubs. Just because Manny hasn't done anything "crazy" lately they feel like they have to make a mockery of the guy. I am sick of this "Manny being Manny" crap...

how about because of both
i dont think the dodgers would be the team they are with torre if he wasnt the manager, there pitching staff is average, and it got them to the playoffs, while he does mishandle the bullpen at times, it usually works out for them

What are you kidding, he IS a leader, he leads everyone
in missed catches and errors
to the clubhouse before the game is over
to the showers
to the owners office to discuss his contract
to the bank to cash his check
to the drug store (enough said)
to the news media to tell them he wants to be traded
to the bank in LA to with draw his money
to the bank in Cleveland to deposit his money
back to whining about wanting to be traded to a winner before he retired.

Seriuosly...I can't believe this is even being talked about. What do you think every pitcher that comes out of the game USUALLY does.
He heads for the shower. It's only being talked about because its Manny. Don't get me wrong I hate this guy (get a haircut already), but who cares if he watched the last inning.

Hope he's gone next season. Back to the AL where he belongs in the DH spot. I've seen little league player better then him in the field.
