Matt Millen? Are you serious?

Posted on: December 22, 2009 12:27 am
The Redskins deserve a media beatdown after their farce of a game against the Giants and they'll get it. Another brilliant team set up by Dannyboy.

But what I couldn't stand, couldn't take for a second, was hearing Matt Millen, of all people, mocking Jim Zorn and the Redskins.

Matt Millen? C'mon, Matt, really? You? You're mocking Zorn, chucking out loud over his press conference, ripping him, laughing out loud?

You? You?

The guy who sent the Detroit Lions into the tar pit for years to come with some of the worst personnel moves in the history of the sport?

Millen mocking someone's coaching acumen is like Keanu Reeves mocking someone's acting skills.

Just sayin'.

That is all.

Matt Millen? Are you serious?

To think Matt Millen is the best color analyst / commentor in TV shows you don't crap about football.
Especially when you think London Fletcher should not be in the Pro Bowl. What planet do you live on?
All I see you root for the Dolphins, now everything makes sense LOL

Matt Millen? Are you serious?

As a 49er fan of many years, I enjoyed watching Millen play back in the day.  That being said, I have wondered time and again how he ever pulled off this announcer's gig he has.  Any credibility he MIGHT have ever had was shot to pieces in Detroit.  How anyone trying to run a serious NFL business of any kind could think that any NFL fan would find any of Millen's "insight" credible and give him a job is beyond me.  How about putting us out of our misery and finding someone, anyone else to take his place.

Matt Millen? Are you serious?

The NFL nerwork needs to drop Matt Millen from the broadcast booth team.  He forced me to mute the TV during the Saints/Cowboys game last Saturday night.  His constant praising of players like he was speaking from a position of expertise and authority was sickening.  The man needs to keep his mouth shut concerning dysfunctional NFL franchises because he defined that term for many years in Detroit.

Matt Millen? Are you serious?

I still can't figure out why he was even hired by any network.  Not only that but he's freaking on every show dealing with football it seems.  So far the only thing he's proven capable of doing is explaining how linebackers blitz.  But he did it so many times in one game that even my wife got sick of hearing about it and she wasn't even watching the game.  The man is a joke.  Pretty hard to believe there was no more qualified person to put on the air.  Anytime he comes on the screen I have to change the channel or turn down the volume.

Give it up, Nathan. Millen is an idiot. Period.  Doesn't matter what job he's in, the guy is a cement head. The only thing worse than that in the booth is a cement head that thinks he's God's gift, and Millen is the poster child for that syndrome. (Although as you point out, there's no shortage of dummy's behind the mike.) Was there really competition to hire him?  That makes me wonder if the fool who hired him at ESPN is named Darryl and has a brother named Darryl working at another sports net.

Matt Millen? Are you serious?

Matt Millen does not deserve to be in any football-related position considering his singlehanded decimation of the Lions. ESPN using him on MNF is a tell of how seriously devoid of talent they are. Stewart Scott, c'mon man - his only talent is as Berman's concubine.

Remember back in September when MNF kicked off this season with a double-header? Tirico, Jaws, and Gruden were the announce crew for the early game while Greenberg, Golic, and Young manned the late game. Personally I would like to see them go with a 3G crew for MNF - Greenberg, Golic, and Gruden. And for God's sake please no more offseason baseball crap. Who cares? MNF is for FOOTBALL, c'mon man.

Thank you for writing this. As a Lions fan, it has been one of the most difficult things on the planet to see this jerk get a job back in announcing after the debacle that was his tenure as a GM in Detroit. He is, without a doubt, the worst GM to ever hold that position, in any sport. Millen, as an announcer, should be much more humble, yet his smugness oozes through the television every week. When he gave that interview after he was fired where he said that Detroit blamed him for "Kwame and the bad economy", I was furious. He has no right to mock ANYONE in ANY sports for being bad, as his name (formerly associated associated with good announcing) will forever be synonymous with loser now.

I will first say that I am not a Redskins fan, I love football and watch as many games as I can. Your post is right on target. The idea of Millen commenting on how teams are run is ludicrous for all the reasons you stated.

Obviously, Zorn becoming the coach was a real head scratcher from the word go. Some of the personnel decisions have been difficult to understand as well. It must hurt Redskins fans to see a  team full of tradition being run down like this. I feel your pain. I am a Bears fan. (Insert your joke here.)

I know I could not be a great sports commentator, I will be the first to admit that. However, commenting durring games (NFL and other sports) has gotten so bad, I am tempted to watch most games with the mute permanently on!

Matt Millen????? Freeman you hit the nail on the head with this. Now someone just needs to hit Millen in the head with something to wake him up. Just listening to him during the game is sickening enough. Retire already Millen!

i dont mind him commentating a game, but giving advice or speaking on knowledge of football to me just doesnt work for him when he couldn't even hire a good head coach.
