Shock, stunned, can't believe it...all words used by a source within the Florida Gators football program regarding Urban Meyer's annoucement he's stepping down as coach.

The source said few people saw this coming though the source did acknowledge that Meyer has expressed some concerns about his health to close friends in recent days.

Nevertheless the school is reeling.

I'm also told the players had no clue about Meyer's plans.

For now, no one is discussing what exactly has caused Meyer to stop coaching but for the hard charging Meyer to step down, it must be extremely serious.

Notre Who????? I couldn't say it better myself. Spikes was suspended for the whole game on his request moron. And the guy he did it to wondered loudly why he was suspended to begin with. And "you can still play vs. Alabama"...... even an Alabama fan could tell you he did not play. Hell it made their day for us to lose our best pass rusher. Get your info right, come back, fix it, then continue to watch your crap school play football next year. Oh by the way...... Notre Dame is a member of the Big East in every sport except football. Why do they think they need their independence? Do they actually matter? My vote is no.

drunken gator what would you or any other GAYTOR ( including urban liar ) know about class? this is the most classless team in sports. 30 arrests ( 1 for useing a dead girls credit card ) eye gouging ( suspended for a half ) passed out at a stop sign ( you can still play vs alabama, how did that work out for you? ) it goes on and on. meyer was a pimp, and the players were his ho's.

Until it is confirmed he is leaving due to a serious health issue, I would not go on deifying Mr. Meyer.  He is leaving a team that is losing its Heisman q.b. whose offense was very mediocre without Percy Harvin this year.  If it is his health, then why even risk coaching another game?

WOW, as a vol fan let me say that he will be greatly missed. The SEC is fortunate to have a wealth of great coaches. The great coaches are a big reason why the league is so good.  I will miss the bantering between the coaches and shame on the commissioner for being such a control freak, that fine on Meyer was a joke.

Anyway, guys, he must have a serious health problem to step down, you can bet he has seen the best in medical specialist so he most likely has a bigger battle ahead.  All college football fans should wish him well.
