Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

The city of Philadelphia never fully appreciated Donovan McNabb. I was there when Eagles fans booed him at the draft. They've criticized everything from McNabb's throwing to his touchdown celebrations. In my 20-plus years of covering the NFL few superstars have been as under-appreciated by its fan base -- in any sport -- as McNabb has been by Eagles fans.

Now, the same could be said for the Eagles organization itself. Andy Reid was supposedly a McNabb proponent. Well, with friends like these...

The Eagles will pay for this ridiculously arrogant trade. They'll pay dearly. McNabb has three to five years left in that 33-year-old body. (He takes beter care of himself than Brett Favre does.) He'll play the Eagles twice a year and he'll crush them. At least, I hope he does. I hope McNabb throws for 400 yards a game when he plays Philadelphia. I hope he eats a cheesesteak every time he scores, too.

Maybe he'll sing that Rocky theme song after a TD pass.

The Eagles think so lowly of McNabb they traded him within the division. They're going to pay for that arrogance.

Football is a business and the Eagles can do what they want but the way Philadelphia -- the team and its fans -- have treated McNabb has stunned even a hardened cynical hard ass like me.

He never got into trouble. He wasn't a jerk like Terrell Owens. He won four straight division titles, went to five conference title games and a Super Bowl. Those were his crimes.

So you got what you wanted, Philly fans. McNabb is gone. You can't blame him for every ill in the world any longer.

Good luck with Kevin KornKolb and Michael Vick.

You're going to to need it.

And when McNabb returns to a Super Bowl without you, Eagles fans, who will you blame then?

Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

I am glad he is gone.  I like McNabb, I think he could have been a great QB, but he was a just a very good one.  He is 33, and he is not going to get any better.  None of us can predict how well will Kolb do, but I have to trust Andy Reid.  He is not the best coach out there, but his personnel decisions were almost always spot on.  And by the way, the reasons we made the playoffs for so many years are many.  But the main one was gone last year.  RIP Jim Johnson and thank you for everything.  With that D, no QB would be under pressure (Rex Grossman rings a bell???).

You are NOT a die-hard Eagles fan!  Even if you are right (which in my opinion you are not), a true ("die-hard") fan would root for his team above all else.  Do me a favor and jump back off the band wagon.  You are a disgrace!

By the way, the line that Freeman stole from Stephen A Smith (see my previous text) was Kevin Korn Kolb.

Not only is Freeman predictible (an usually wrong), he is also a plagerizer (not sure if that's really a word).  Stephen A Smith (another racist) wrote that in an article (in the Phila Inquirer) a few weeks ago.  Is that all you got Freeman, a stolen quote from another idiot writer?  See ya # 5 and dont let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.  Question for all of you Philly haters, would Romo still be around in Dallas if he loses 4 NFC Championships (3 times in which they were the home team and the favorite).  Yes, he did get us to one SuperBowl but we all know how that ended (and I dont mean with Donny Mac puking all over the field).

I could point to many instances where Freeman has been completely wrong, and I know of one instance where he wrote outright lies in his blog. The man has zero credibility as a journalist.

Let me apologize on behalf of all Eagles fans for our unwillingness to wait another 11 years to see if Donovan McNabb could win a Super Bowl. We wish him luck in Washington, but we don’t expect him to win one there either.

One more thing - don’t forget to mention that the disloyal Eagles organization paid McNabb over 100 million dollars over the last 11 years. Sorry for your trouble Don!

Sensationalizing this just a bit?  I take offense.   Every Eagles fan out there knows what DMac has done for this team.  Before DMac we expected to lose, but hoped to win.  With DMac we expected to win.  He raised the bar for an entire generation of fans.  That will be his legacy.   Do we want him to go, hell no, we love him.   But as dedicated, intelligant fans who do NOT blame every ill on one player, you are sometimes faced with a complicated reality.   Its fair to say that it might be the right time for him and the team to part ways.  The team comes before any player, and I bet DMac would be the first to agree.

So don't thing for a second that we fans are that shallow or short-sighted.  Don't think for a second that he won't be missed!

Who is the tool who wrote this blog? What a whiner.  I suprised we didn't get any Doug Williams references too.

Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

I can't wait to read Freeman's next article on how the Eagles are racists for trading a black QB to start a white QB. Should be a good read.

And from an actual Philadelphian, McNabb was extremely appreciated from 1999-2004. After that, the injuries and the coming up short in the clutch got old after having gotten such a big whiff of the promised land for so long and never making it. Every real Eagles fan realizes that McNabb was the best QB in franchise history, and they have also realized since 2005 that he would not be able to lead them to a championship. So call it unappreciated, call it disrespectful, or call it what it really was: realism; but when you get so close so many times and can't get over the top, getting close again just isn't good enough. And to every Bengals and Lions fan out there saying how we are lucky to have been that good, yeah maybe we have, but try getting to 5 NFC title games and a Super Bowl in an 8 year span but not winning a championship and you'll see what I'm talking about.

You bet he's racist. If any white columnist tried to snaeak in a racial comment (Kevin KornKalb, give me a break) that white journalist would have been fired by now and have every main stream media outlet covering this! And you know it!

I think McNabb probably will put the hurt on the Eagles this year, but football is a business- This puts the Eagles in the best position to become a champion-ship caliber team in a year or two. If the FO didn't think it would happen this year, then it is time to move on and get the best deal you can.
