Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

The city of Philadelphia never fully appreciated Donovan McNabb. I was there when Eagles fans booed him at the draft. They've criticized everything from McNabb's throwing to his touchdown celebrations. In my 20-plus years of covering the NFL few superstars have been as under-appreciated by its fan base -- in any sport -- as McNabb has been by Eagles fans.

Now, the same could be said for the Eagles organization itself. Andy Reid was supposedly a McNabb proponent. Well, with friends like these...

The Eagles will pay for this ridiculously arrogant trade. They'll pay dearly. McNabb has three to five years left in that 33-year-old body. (He takes beter care of himself than Brett Favre does.) He'll play the Eagles twice a year and he'll crush them. At least, I hope he does. I hope McNabb throws for 400 yards a game when he plays Philadelphia. I hope he eats a cheesesteak every time he scores, too.

Maybe he'll sing that Rocky theme song after a TD pass.

The Eagles think so lowly of McNabb they traded him within the division. They're going to pay for that arrogance.

Football is a business and the Eagles can do what they want but the way Philadelphia -- the team and its fans -- have treated McNabb has stunned even a hardened cynical hard ass like me.

He never got into trouble. He wasn't a jerk like Terrell Owens. He won four straight division titles, went to five conference title games and a Super Bowl. Those were his crimes.

So you got what you wanted, Philly fans. McNabb is gone. You can't blame him for every ill in the world any longer.

Good luck with Kevin KornKolb and Michael Vick.

You're going to to need it.

And when McNabb returns to a Super Bowl without you, Eagles fans, who will you blame then?

Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

The only people in the world that don't hate Philladelphia sports fans are Philladelphia sports fans.  They are a dispicable bunch.
A bunch of fat, drunk, foul mouthed, idiots.  What's not to hate?

Racist?  Actually YOU ARE the racist for even thinking that way.  So they sold a bunch of McNabb jerseys in Philly.  He's the QUATERBACK, and some DB outsells him?  That shows you what Philadelphia fans think of Mcnabb right there - McNabb has never been fully appreciated or supported by the fans (worst in the NFL by the way).  I think it was more on Andy Reid than Donavan that they didn't ever win the Super Bowl.  You can't win the big game without running the ball SOME.

We'll gladly take Donavan off Philly's hands.  He has alot left in the tank.  Now he'll have a cavernous chip on his shoulder and alot to prove -  McNabb looked awesome at times last year.  Now he'll have a REAL Head Coach who knows how to go ALL THE WAY BABY!  I can't wait for my Skins to sweep Philly next year.

What a clueless Jackass Freeman is.  I guess it's not surprising coming from a Redskins fan though.  Hey Freeman wanna bet?  McNabb will stink behind that O-line, while throwing to those suspect WRs.  The Eagles aren't going to be good next season, but they'll be better than the Skins.  Here are my thoughts on the trade:

Read it and learn something about football and writing Freeman.

So apparently Mike "Racist" Freemon can sneak in an a hidden racial reference and not have his blog deleted? Wow, must have a black editor? Same as Kevin KornKolb getting the nod over McNabb because he has a white boss right?? Racist scum!

The most prolifice QB in the NFC over a ten years span and his jearsey is second in sales on his own team and you don't think the fan base has a problem with him? you're the moron.  Move out of the trailer park before you start calling other people racist.

I have to say from the stand point of a fan outside the philly area and outside the conference, this seems to be the worst move i have seen in this free agent period.  The Eagles could have gotten more from a team that is not in the same division.  I always say that these guys get paid for a reason, but WHY???  I beleive that the Eagle organization listen to the not so reasonable fan base.  I've been to the to the philly area many times and always argue with fans.

1. Making it to the conference chapionship and super bowl are not good enough reasons on dumbing a top ten QB.  Not making it to the playoffs a couple of years in a row could be.

2. His age is not a problem.  P. Manning is around the same age and you dont see Colts fans running him out of town.(besides the one super bowl that took many years McNabb has done more for the Eagles in the post season)

3. Moving on to Kolb is going to lead down the same path as the Packers.(Good but not as good as they were with Farve)

4. I've heard that the Egales should have been in the conference and super bowl because the NFC is weak.  I disagree on that one.  The Packers, Saints, Gaints, Cowboys(besides postseason), Falcons, Vikes have all been strong in the past couple of years.

The reason comes down to the Eagle fans didn't want him in the first place and never wanted to say that they were wrong.  So I will say it for you, you were and still are wrong.  Have fun at the bottom of the NFC East next year.

You're calling him racist.  I didn't read that he said that Philly fans didn't appreciate McNabb because he was black.  He said they never fully appreciated him.  That is true.
Philly fans just like to whine.  It's in your blood.  It has nothing to do with jersey sales.
His point about Philly trading him to Washington is true.  I hope it does bite them in the a$$.
That is arrogant on Philly's part.  It's a dog fight every year in the NFC East.  Why would you give one of your rivals something more to play for?  I'll be shocked if them Iggles win 5 games this year.

You can't blame the city, fans or Kolb for this trade Freeman.  Kolb didn't draft himself, and like him us fans don't have a decision on who stays or goes.  They don't make the decisions nor do their voice make a differnce (remembered the mayor even signed a petion to FORCE them to draft R. Williams and we see how that turned out!).  Anyone with a brain knew they needed a QB over any other position, especially picking 3rd overall in what we saw 5 QBs taken in that 1st round.

This was NOTHING MORE than about $$$.  The Eagles FO has always been known to dump aging players with late contract loaded incentives.  They generally dump them, then they would allow them to collect their money.  They are always well under the cap too!

It's a business!!!  That's why we are called 'fanatics' or 'fans' because no matter what in the end we support our teams, yet we haven't any control over them!

Joe Montana went to the Chiefs late in his career and had what, one playoff win?  I own a McNabb jersey and was a huge supporter of McNabb.  Just like when they let Dawkins go and Westbrook (although he's certainly an injury risk anymore).  McNabb was a great player but it was time to move on.  I am just shocked they traded him within the division.  Of the 11 seasons he played 4 full ones, how healthy can he stay under a below average Oline?

I will certainly miss Don as a player and a person that shows class on and off the field.  He was not the problem most of the time.  Yes not the most accurate guy at times but a winner and made mistakes but so did/does Farve.  Don doesn't play Defense and he doesn't call the plays.

Best of luck #5.

I agree with you wholeheartely, especially with Kevin Kolb not having any significant NFL experience.
As for Michael Vick, anybody who thinks he's a better QB than McNabb shouldn't be
making football decisions.
