Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

The city of Philadelphia never fully appreciated Donovan McNabb. I was there when Eagles fans booed him at the draft. They've criticized everything from McNabb's throwing to his touchdown celebrations. In my 20-plus years of covering the NFL few superstars have been as under-appreciated by its fan base -- in any sport -- as McNabb has been by Eagles fans.

Now, the same could be said for the Eagles organization itself. Andy Reid was supposedly a McNabb proponent. Well, with friends like these...

The Eagles will pay for this ridiculously arrogant trade. They'll pay dearly. McNabb has three to five years left in that 33-year-old body. (He takes beter care of himself than Brett Favre does.) He'll play the Eagles twice a year and he'll crush them. At least, I hope he does. I hope McNabb throws for 400 yards a game when he plays Philadelphia. I hope he eats a cheesesteak every time he scores, too.

Maybe he'll sing that Rocky theme song after a TD pass.

The Eagles think so lowly of McNabb they traded him within the division. They're going to pay for that arrogance.

Football is a business and the Eagles can do what they want but the way Philadelphia -- the team and its fans -- have treated McNabb has stunned even a hardened cynical hard ass like me.

He never got into trouble. He wasn't a jerk like Terrell Owens. He won four straight division titles, went to five conference title games and a Super Bowl. Those were his crimes.

So you got what you wanted, Philly fans. McNabb is gone. You can't blame him for every ill in the world any longer.

Good luck with Kevin KornKolb and Michael Vick.

You're going to to need it.

And when McNabb returns to a Super Bowl without you, Eagles fans, who will you blame then?

Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

Disloyal...we are still catering to McNabb by trading him to Washington instead of Oakland. Oakland would have put the franchise tag on him and he would have ended his career there.   NOW he will be a Viking in 2011 (sorry Washington fans).   OH, and Freeman nice KKK comment...classless.

I agree... Freeman always rights off the top of his head and it is the epitamy of "Ignorant Journalism!"  The Eagles organization has been consumate profesionalls and has cotinued to field a winning team for the past 10 yrs.... The Redskins however are not and continue to over pay, reach and make deals that are band aids. That is why the last 10 yrs they stink! So, do you think the Eagles know something the Redskins don't? Probly Chances Redskins got hte better of the deal?  Slim at best!  Why don't you write about facts Freeman instead of what your jealous heart and  ignorant brain keep spoooing out!

LOL, well said Freeman and I hope yopu're right.  I hope he's got 3-5 years left in the tank.  He is the type of QB the Skins have won the Superbowl with.  Jason is a great team player with a hgh tolerence to all of the nonsense the NFL can dish out but he doesn't have what it takes to be a winner on the field.  It would be great if we can trade him (and NOT within our division) and get a 2nd rounder for him!

Boo Hoo for the fickle fans of Filly.

Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

I'm going to save this article and e-mail it back to Freeman with a pic of my balls when the Eagles finish with a better record than the Skins this year.  This guy time and time again writes things with no factual backing strictly for the purpose of getting people fired up.  The Birds did what they always do.  They move old players when they believe it's best for the organization and aside from Dawk, it has worked in their favor every time.  This isn't charity.  Much love to Donny for the great years, but everything has to come to an end.  Of course Kolb will struggle at times this year like every other QB in their first year as a starter, but either way they had to get what they could for one of them.  McNabb still has something left in the tank but I think with the Skins porous line, perennially banged up RB's, and lack of offensive weapons, he's going to spend more time on his back than on his feet. BOYCOTT FREEMAN!!  It's the only way were going to get him off of here.

Freeman, you are by far the most clueless writer emplyed by this site.  And that is saying alot considering Doyel is cashing a paycheck from CBS as well.  As an Eagles fan, I watched and rooted for McNabb for the past 11 years.  However, he is a mere shell of his former self, can't win a big game, exhibits some of the worst body language during a game that I have ever seen, doesn't take his share of the blame when the offense plays poorly, and has a tendency to throw his teammates under the bus after a loss.  If the Redskins aspire to be an 8-8 or 9-7 team, they're on the right track.  As for a Super Bowl appearance in a Skins uniform......not gonna happen.  Lay off the pipe Freeman.

A black man calling another black man (Terrell Owens) a jerk makes him a racist. Correct me if I am wrong, but racists usually bash another race not their own. Who is the moron now? Certainly not me and I don't think Freeman is either. Don't be so quick to play the race card. Not everything revolves around race.

Kevin KornKobb....   Really sad Freeman....  Lay off the bottle next time, if there is one.

That was just plain stupid.... Did you mean to say CornCobb??  Why the 2 extra capitalized K's???

From the self-proclaimed HBIC....   Yeah, certainly not racial.  CBS should can you TODAY.

Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

I can't imagine there are any bigger mcnabb fans than myself. I watched him for 4 years at Syracuse(one of my fav college teams...who actually used to be relevant) and couldn't believe the Philly fans booed him when he was drafted and I knew they would soon be eating their words. I was a Dolphins fan at the time bc I loved Marino, but the day he retired I became an Eagles fan strictly bc of McNabb. McNabb had incredible success in Philly but never won a superbowl and i truly believe that sometimes things just run their course. He was there for 11 yrs and gave them everything he had and for whatever reason, it all didn't come together at the right time to bring home a championship but he is still the GREATEST QB in Eagles history in my opinion. Having said that i have to agree that he has to be one of the most, if not THE MOST underappreciated players in sports history!!! Like i said he gave EVRYTHING, on and off the field, and he still got crap for every incompletion it seemed. I'm not that worried about him staying in NFC East for 2 reasons: 10 he has absolutely lost a step. I love the guy but in the last 2 yrs he has thrown balls into the ground or at the receivers feet with alarming regularity and 2) the Redskins SUCK!!!! McNabb is not going to change that bc he's gonna be picking his ass up off the ground too much...which could lead to an injury. i still like the pick up for the Skins but I am willing to not make the playoffs this year to give Kolb a yr of experience, use all the picks we got from trading Mcnabb, brown and gocong, to reload where we need it and then watch out in 2011!!!

Finally I'd like to say a hearfelt thanks to Donovan McNabb who gave Philly fans, even the ones who didn't realze it, a player they could truly be proud of ON and off the filed!!! Good luck in DC...except when u play my Eagles!!!
