Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

The city of Philadelphia never fully appreciated Donovan McNabb. I was there when Eagles fans booed him at the draft. They've criticized everything from McNabb's throwing to his touchdown celebrations. In my 20-plus years of covering the NFL few superstars have been as under-appreciated by its fan base -- in any sport -- as McNabb has been by Eagles fans.

Now, the same could be said for the Eagles organization itself. Andy Reid was supposedly a McNabb proponent. Well, with friends like these...

The Eagles will pay for this ridiculously arrogant trade. They'll pay dearly. McNabb has three to five years left in that 33-year-old body. (He takes beter care of himself than Brett Favre does.) He'll play the Eagles twice a year and he'll crush them. At least, I hope he does. I hope McNabb throws for 400 yards a game when he plays Philadelphia. I hope he eats a cheesesteak every time he scores, too.

Maybe he'll sing that Rocky theme song after a TD pass.

The Eagles think so lowly of McNabb they traded him within the division. They're going to pay for that arrogance.

Football is a business and the Eagles can do what they want but the way Philadelphia -- the team and its fans -- have treated McNabb has stunned even a hardened cynical hard ass like me.

He never got into trouble. He wasn't a jerk like Terrell Owens. He won four straight division titles, went to five conference title games and a Super Bowl. Those were his crimes.

So you got what you wanted, Philly fans. McNabb is gone. You can't blame him for every ill in the world any longer.

Good luck with Kevin KornKolb and Michael Vick.

You're going to to need it.

And when McNabb returns to a Super Bowl without you, Eagles fans, who will you blame then?

What is wrong with you Freeman?  Kevin KornKolb?  McNabb keeps in better shape that Favre?  Are you a racist?  First of all, your Kornkolb insult is not even funny.  You mention Kolb and Vick in the same sentence and you choose to insult Kolb over a sadistic profiteering dog torturer who ran an illegal gambling ring.  You also mention McNabb's superior physique over Favre.  Last time I checked, Favre has not missed a game in 15+ years while McNabb has missed a boatload of games the previous five years.
Thanks for your racist commentary and your general lack of writing talent.  You are, however, an excellent instigator. Nice job.

Petulant scribblings of a baby.

Freeman, this in a new low even for you. Kevin KornKolb, eh? This sad attempt at commentary is proof positive that affirmative action is the only way some keep their jobs at cbssports.com

Disloyal Eagles will pay for trading McNabb

In the long run it was probably a good move for both clubs. McNabb is a great QB who will upgrade the Redskins, and the Eagles get a very high second round pick and either a third or fourth rounder next year in exchange for McNabb. I think its likely Donovan will play for a few more years, but I don't know if he'll be around as long as Favre. I think its likely he'll only be here top 3 or 4 years, and if the Eagles use those picks wisely they could end up with two starters for many years to come.

People say its disloyal to trade McNabb, but football is a business, and salary caps are a major concern. I think the Eagles feel that Kolb is their QB of the future, and are making that move now. Its really no different that GB moving forward with Aaron Rogers after Favre--it might blow up in their faces, but its there call.

Pre-Game Entry in DallasTypified McNabb Downfall

Does anyone recall when just before this past years playoff game between Philly vs. Dallas, the Fox coverage cut to the Eagles making their way through the tunnel onto Texas Staduim (just a week after the Cowboys won in Philadelphia to earn home field), and what did we see??......D. McNabb playing air guitar liike a maniac, jumping around like an immature high school kid apparently a bit too hyped up. He even lunged at a fan passing by and slammed his hands on the plexi-glass. I'm sure all the veteran Eagle players were really pumped up by that display.......I actually thought at that moment, this guy better win or he is done. Can anyone pictute pne of the Manning boys, or Drew Brees doing anything close to that ever? How about any QB and so called leader? If you don't rmember the scene, find it and watch it. You think Andy Reid, or any coach would be glad to see that from his QB? What an idiot, and what a great example as to why he could not quite get it done. Great player - yes. Gave his all to Philly - yes. But he was finished there. Btw, his vomiting on the field late in the Super Bowl was nothing new.....he did it several times at Syracuse. Again, great player, seemed like a good guy, but the party is over.

Freeman you know nothing about this situation

The first thing you bring up is the booing at the draft.  That did not represent the majority of Eagle fans.  That was just 30 drunk idiots on a bus.  The majority of knowlegable  Eagle fans loved McNabb and know how great he was and think he is a Hall of Famer.  It was just that things ran dry and we have a young quarterback that if given the time will be better than McNabb will be in 2 years.  If McNabb is here he is the best QB on the team but every game McNabb would have played takes away from Kolb's Progression.  Our entire Offence is young and we want Kolb to grow with our young players.  But none of this will matter if Andy Ried won't run the ball more and fix the O-Line.

Disloyal? Is this guy serious? McNabb comes up small in big games. I'd love for this clown to say otherwise...

YOUR AN IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude ur an idiot ! You have no idea what ur talking about . Im a huge Mcnabb and still am but the fact that he has been here for 11yrs
and hasnt won a superbowl is a good reason to trade him and start over . I will still think he is the best QB in Eagles history bar none.
And guess what I'm white , and you seem to be a racist calling Kevin Kolb names cause he is from the south. And what were the patriots disloyal when they got rid of Drew Bledsoe and put Brady in ? Hmmmmm..... think about it u f...ing moron. And remember why u write a
blog on CBSsports website and not the New York Times.... cause u have no skill at what u do . So take ur stupid blog that is so off the mark and stick in ur u know wat. Classless Moron!!!!!
