Tiger's new commercial an exploitative disgrace

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Just saw the new Tiger Woods Nike commercial and almost threw up.

Just in case you haven't seen it, Woods' father does a voiceover as the camera pans in on Woods' face. Woods says nothing, it's just his father talking. Woods stares unblinking at the camera as his father speaks.

His father, of course, is dead.

Now, there's bad taste, and then there's using your dead father to move product.

Throughout this entire scandal, I've defended Woods (somewhat) from all the hypocrites who chastise Woods for his infidelity, while many of them are bagging their own women on the side. I also thought Woods' apology tour was sincere.

Then came this disgusting commercial.

He lost me and he likely lost the few defenders he had.

Woods needs to keep a low profile and play golf. He doesn't need to use his dead pops to sell more golf clubs.

Tiger's new commercial an exploitative disgrace

Don't blame Tiger for the commercial, blame the handlers.  I don't defend Tiger, nor do i condem him.  I just love to see him play golf.

Tiger's new commercial an exploitative disgrace

Most do not know that between the ages of 1 to 6 we get conditioned mostly by our parents or those near by.   The ones near by, their actions and reactions affect how we initiatially portray the world.   Tiger is no different.   His Dad was some sort of Special Ops military guy and therefore was obviously very intense and probably very critical of Tiger even though also pushed him to be  dedicated and commited.   I, even though probably amongst the few, realize this and appreciate Tigers Commercial and maybe more and more and more people can learn to FORGIVE the conditioning that happened to them, rather than judge the conditioning that happened to Tiger.   Tigers choices can change and are, so are the choices we make, let's all use our energies to CHANGE rather than to JUDGE......or if you want to be always separate and in the illusion of life, continue to judge and be judged!!!  I vote for change, for forgiveness.....for encouragement - therefore attainment of better days ahead!

Tiger's new commercial an exploitative disgrace

I just watched the Masters on CBS. Talk about hypocrisy -I was amazed that Jim Nantz seemed to think he was on an afternoon talk show   like Oprah Or one of the others! He was hell bent to talk about Tiger's recent problems and kept returning to it over and over again through out the coverage!!!!! I wanted to hear about and watch the Masters!! Tiger's events are history and he is a super golfer and the other should be left alone on the coverage. Nick Faldo was classy and very professional in his comments on Tiger and his  problems and seemed to only want to talk about the golf and the Masters. Nantz at one pointed out as Tiger walked onto 18 he said"there are some folks there in the foreground that are not applauding Tiger". Nantz, usually a consumater professional, thught  he was working for the   National Inquirer, not CBS Sports! The Masters should fire him like they did another comentator a few years ago. You would think Nantz would understand Tigers position after Jim Nantz went through his own personal, public mess with his former wife and who knows"girfriends", but apparently he learned nothing from his own personal trial and tribulations! Please give us the golf coverage and we will go to the tabloids for the other junk on Tiger's faults. He is not the only one who has made mistakes and will not be the last!! One last thought JIm Mactee?? when he interviewed Tiger after his round was almost sneering at Tiger! He seemed to be the typical "Nantz" type snob and was almost dismissive of Tiger at the end and showed no respect for Tiger ! If I were Tiger I would not talk to CBS if it meant dealing with those two!!! I hope Tiger wins and then watch Natz& company kiss up to him. I hope the President of CBS reads this.  Nantz shuld know better and return to the true professional he was prior to today!!! Please if you live in a glass house you should not throw stones. Maybe an apology tomorrow would be appropriate for Nantz & company!! By the way I am a from the South and a white male and this is my viewpoint!!

Mike, try using BOLD PRINT, CAPITAL LETTERS and UNDERLINING!  Maybe then he might be able to see the difference.

Please dog poo, quit wasting everyone's time and space. You are obviously a troubled individual with a LOT of issues. Besides, your spelling is downright laughable and the frequency of your messages indicates an abnormal way of communicating. Let's hope they never let you out of the brig in which you reside.

Tiger's new commercial an exploitative disgrace

Mike I think the add was very very good. That was a quote from his father explaning what kind of person he was in difference to his wifes more direct yes or no approach to things. If there is anything about this add that bothers you about a man reflecting on things his father has said your just silly. The fact that anyone reminded him of what his father would think, to me is important. His image for selling products may be the reason for the add but the message that Tiger and Nike are sending was on point. Tiger,Nike and the whole world know he messed up in a big way as an icon and as a person and you should know that in his life the main person to please was and is his father. In closing I would ask that you look at the add as a fact that those words are in Tigers head to remind him how his father taught him to be and not the man he became. Also if the add sells more product that is just a bonus to repairing there clients reputation. If Tigers father was still alive I believe he would have questioned what his son was thinking and if he had learned anything from his downfall. I still remember things my father told me on how to live my life or things that he did that I try to duplicate so do you and the rest of the world. So why should Tiger be any different?

His live dad was teh one who built Tiger up and said he would change the world: but that was Obama's dad's son who turned out to e THE MAN!

What exactly did he do to harm his dad? He loved his dad immensely.

So Mr Freeman, can yuo get it through your small head that you are a sports writer...not a sensationalist tabloid liar or sitcom writer of trash?

Write sports please. i do not care one way or the other for Elin, the ex-swimsuit modell wannabe ..the ex nanny to her country's top giolf star adn now wife to world's greatest golfer...I have NO OPINION...

I am a GOLF FAN! TLAKE GOLF ALONE! ANd talk about the payers mental and physical talents relating to GOLF!!!!!
