LeFavre James

We now have a winner for Greatest Ego of All Time.

There's only one choice. There will always be only one choice.

LeFavre James.

LeFavre is apparently holding a primetime news conference on ESPN on Thursday night. We'll put aside for a moment that a news organization is allowing itself to be pimped out by LeFavre.

We'll instead focus on the grand, gigantic, Jupiter-sized ego of James. This is one of the most ridiculous things ever done by a professional athlete and that's saying something.

I'm on record stating it's a good thing for James and the other free agents to make as much money as possible. But this is going too far.

James isn't in high school announcing he's going to Florida State. He's a professional athlete, a grown man, and this reeks of horrid ego and childish insecurities.

James is out of control. He will lose the support of a great many people for this and across the NBA players will laugh at him. They'll shake their heads and laugh at him.

All this for a guy who is ringless.

Good luck, LeFavre.

Should we get you some makeup for your primetime appearance?

The reason the announcement does deserve derision is the one fact - it goes for one bleedin' hour! What one hour on where hemight go, or why he signed with team x over team y? That is why it comes across as egtotistical. yes it is good to see the sponsorship money going to worthy charity but to this Australian it just looks like it will be an hour long commercial.

LOL at all you idiots who bought the charity angle.  LeEgo James' "handlers" are smart enough.  They know that having a 1 hour long special on all about LeEgo and where he is going is not going to sit well with alot of the public.  So what do they do to try to make it look better?  Why lets pull the charity card and donate to a wonderful cause like the boys and girls club.  That way people will say "oh he's doing it for charity".  No, it's not about ego.  It's not about promoting himself.  It's all about charity.  And for alot of idiots, it worked.  You bought into it.

For those who say it's all the media's fault.  Really?  LeEgo's camp are the one calling up the network to set up the TV special.  No way ESPN or any other network is going to turn down this exclusive special.  These networks aren't stupid.  But who initiated it?  LeEgo.

kmanwriter, I def can agree with all this:

"I see it as one of three things.  He will either use this hour to:

1)  (probability=60%) Announce he is staying in Cleveland, revere the city, be a hero to them, show clips of him as a kid in his hometown, show clips of fans adoring him, etc, etc.  Really make it a heartfelt "I'm a hero for staying, see?" type of thing, or

2)  (probability= 35%) He is signing elsewhere, and needs the hour to justify it to himself and to the City of Cleveland.  A closing argument, if you will, as to why he is signing with Chicago/Miami/New Jersey/New York.

3) (probability = 5%)  In the final 5 minutes of the show, Wade and Bosh join him at the table, and they all reach under it and pull out the same hat or jersey, and announce together where all three of them will play."

I definitely laughed as you went through each scenario. As a Cavs fan, I could see all three scenarios (maybe not as much #3, but that would be funny).

As for the article, it seems a good combination of Freeman jealousy/hateration and the fact that Lebron DOES have a huge ego. Perfect storm coming together, but it will be interesting to see on Thursday night when the whole country tunes in to watch a process they supposedly "hate." haha only in America!

If he wanted to donate money to charity, he could have pulled out his checkbook and written a big fat check.  Instead he's going on prime time TV to announce his free agent decision while making sure everyone knows he is giving proceeds to charity.  ts all about regaining attention after he and his team choked away another playoff series.

Keep on making yourself a media mogul Lebron James, meanwhile Kobe Bryant and the Lakers will continue to win NBA titles.  One day your maturity will catch up with your amazing skills on the court and then you may win titles.  See that's the difference between you and Kobe, Kobe is building his legacy through his game and titles which is 5 now.  You are starting to turn people sour on you, so word of advice, be careful in what moves you make, you may be the King, but many kings have been beheaded.

I'm a Knicks fan.  I hope he goes somewhere else.  If he comes here ok.  I'd rather have D-Wade.
