LeFavre James

We now have a winner for Greatest Ego of All Time.

There's only one choice. There will always be only one choice.

LeFavre James.

LeFavre is apparently holding a primetime news conference on ESPN on Thursday night. We'll put aside for a moment that a news organization is allowing itself to be pimped out by LeFavre.

We'll instead focus on the grand, gigantic, Jupiter-sized ego of James. This is one of the most ridiculous things ever done by a professional athlete and that's saying something.

I'm on record stating it's a good thing for James and the other free agents to make as much money as possible. But this is going too far.

James isn't in high school announcing he's going to Florida State. He's a professional athlete, a grown man, and this reeks of horrid ego and childish insecurities.

James is out of control. He will lose the support of a great many people for this and across the NBA players will laugh at him. They'll shake their heads and laugh at him.

All this for a guy who is ringless.

Good luck, LeFavre.

Should we get you some makeup for your primetime appearance?

I don't know how this could be a surprise to anyone. Do you remember when he paid his high school a visit driving a Ferrari?

Dude,

This is way out of bounds and over the top. The greats of the NBA never stooped this low to self promote a decision. The fact of donating to charity is counter play to deflect criticism.

In fact, the greats of the NBA had to fight thier managements to receive an increase of salaries. There once was a running joke that every NBA should donate $1m of their salary to pay for MJ's salary, because of his value and importance to the game, sport and the league....

... Where has it gone?

I could not agree more, so ridiculous.  You don't see Wade, Bosh, or Nowitski doing this.  I am a huge laker fan, and if any of those players ever did this, I would lose so much respect for them.  Like, who cares.  It's the NBA, players move on or stay all the time, you are NOT that big of a deal.  When it comes to crunch time, you have chocked.

Its like you were reading my mind. I could not put pen to paper and express it any better, Freeman. It almost as embarrassing as being enthralled with a Flavor Flav or Brett Michaels episode. How stupid is this? Its for this reason that i have become a huge Kevin Durant and OKC Thunder fan......gotta love winners that do it the right way!!

"How can you all criticize me when I am doing it all for charity?"  Look, it seems unlikely James is going to read any of these comments and it is doubtful he can read something more complex than comic books.  I think we  should be thankful LeBron is not on welfare trying to trade food stamps for tatoos.

He has not ruined NBA but he and Kobe and a ton of players whose lives consist of fathering children, shooting jump shots, complaining about refs and mediocre team mates, and getting someone to show them where to put their "X" on the dotted line are the face of the league.

They are poor examples of what this country was founded on, their egos are swelled by the sheer smoke blown up their back sides by adoring fans and owners, and this is just the beginning.

The league is popular, I hear, but it bores me to tears.

you cant blame James for this?  He went to ESPN with the idea.  In his head, this is wonderful!  Cant blame James??  We have fed his ego from hs, so he is now so full of himself I am sure he wants his own station.   I blame both, him for being full of himself and
ESPN for going along with this crap.

Of course, if you have this opinion, then you are a hater you have a problem, people will attack you personally if you dont think just like them.

He won't go to Miami. He won't concede his ego to play for a guaranteed champion because there's no way it can be HIS team. He shouldn't stay in Cleveland because that team will NOT be better and thus not a title contender next year. Boozer won't go back there come hell or high water, Lee won't go there because he can't get paid and there's no way on God's green earth the Knicks would help anything Lebron related unless it involves him in the Big Apple. New Jersey? Possible but I never thought he could justify playing for a 70-loss team that hasn't done anything to improve its' roster. New York and Chicago are the only choices now for him to leave. New York has Amare but no roles players and no money left after he'd join. The bright lights of Manhattan are enticing to all and a title there would make him immortal in the world's biggest sports market. D'Antoni doesn't give a damn about defense and James publicly dislikes that. Chicago is STILL the best place for him IF he cares about winning titles now AND keeping his ego lofty. He could be the best player on a team with a clear number 2 (Rose) and solid role players (Noah and perhaps Lee/Boozer)...I've had enough. Lebron James your an ass**** no matter whether you play for my team or not. You are a child and what's sad is you don't know it yet...Oh and Wade don't talk about being a family man. You cheated on your wife in front of your kids. Congrats you two, you're wonderful athletes and woeful stereotypes.
