LeFavre James

We now have a winner for Greatest Ego of All Time.

There's only one choice. There will always be only one choice.

LeFavre James.

LeFavre is apparently holding a primetime news conference on ESPN on Thursday night. We'll put aside for a moment that a news organization is allowing itself to be pimped out by LeFavre.

We'll instead focus on the grand, gigantic, Jupiter-sized ego of James. This is one of the most ridiculous things ever done by a professional athlete and that's saying something.

I'm on record stating it's a good thing for James and the other free agents to make as much money as possible. But this is going too far.

James isn't in high school announcing he's going to Florida State. He's a professional athlete, a grown man, and this reeks of horrid ego and childish insecurities.

James is out of control. He will lose the support of a great many people for this and across the NBA players will laugh at him. They'll shake their heads and laugh at him.

All this for a guy who is ringless.

Good luck, LeFavre.

Should we get you some makeup for your primetime appearance?

Its sad that one cannot simply say "I chose not to watch the 1 hour announcement".  Why all the hate?  Why be mad at Lebron for what the media is doing?  It looks to me that he is making a smart business decision by pushing the envelope to see just how much marketing power he has.  You have to admit that this is the highest level of interest in the NBA since Shaq and Webber were in the NBA draft.

I find it very difficult to disagree with Mr. Freeman on this thought and therefore shall not.

I never agree with your articles. But this is a masterpeice. LeFavre (Queen) James has out done Brett, Latrell, Tommy Morrison, Reggie Bush, Kanye West, Younger Kobe,

I could go on forever, but now my stomach hurts thinking about all the hot air they produced over the years. I hope LeFavre decides to go and play with ................Russia!!!!!!!!!

Freeman is an idiot.  He us A CONTRIBUTOR of the drooling masses (media) that has blown the LBJ team choosing into a circus.  And guess what... in today's instantaneous, 24/7 news cycle, Lebron's decision will be spread worldwide in less than 5 minutes.  That said, FREEMAN'S COMPLAINT IS THAT ESPN IS GOING TO CARRY THE ANNOUNCEMENT LIVE?  REALLY?  It will be the biggest NEWS story of the cycle, for better or worse.  His decision will HONESTLY AFFECT THE ECONOMY OF CLEVELAND.
And speaking of these NBA players that shook their heads and laughed at Lebron, I remember Joekim Noah bumping his gums at Lebron.  Who is Joekim Noah, you ask?  My point exactly.  ESPN is being "pimped out" by Lebron?  Really?  DO YOU SEE MOST OF THE CRAP THAT PLAYS ON ESPN'S 4 (I think) networks???  DO THEY REALLY HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO SHOW?
I'm glad Freeman has a job as an empty-headed sportswriter who complains about everything because he'd be an absolute failure if he was in a media position where his decisions actually mattered.

Freeman, This is one of the very few things you've ever written that i am in 100% agreement with you on. ESPN should be ashamed they are partaking in this absurd fiasco. I honestly wish every NBA fan would boycott this mockery and let Labron know exactly where he stands. Unfortunately there will be many a moron tune in to this nonsense and continue the believe in LaBrons head that he's bigger than all those who came before him. You're a joke LaBron!!!

Good job Freeman... and yes, I really mean it.  This has to be one of the dumbest events ever.  Of course, ESPN has an ego every bit the size of LeBron's - do you remember that apprentice-style show they ran to find the next ESPN anchor?  I think it was called dreamjob or something like that.  They have such a giant ego, that they think the rest of the world wants to watch them hire someone...  Wow.

Also, it is possible that they are pimping LeBron.  Think about it - ESPN is the king of hype, because thats what sports is all about now.  Boxing is the best example today, with hours of hype for a 2 round fight.  They even hype spelling bees, children's baseball, and hotdog eating glutton-fests, so this LBJ presser is hardly their lowest point.  Not by a mile.

Great name btw, LeFarve is pretty funny.

Why is everybody out to get LeBron?  Sportcenter is hyping this whole thing up wayyyy more than LeBron, himself, is. And as far as the whole news conference goes...there was bound to be one anyways, so why not have one and donate all the proceeds to charity, like he is planning on doing?

And as far as the Brett Favre comparison???....the 2 are nothing alike. Favre delayed his RETIREMENT decision up until the ending days of the offseason....LeBron is announcing his FREE AGENCY decision on the FIRST ACTUAL DAY that teams can sign players...

Go ahead and act like you waouldnt do the same thing if you were LeBron.

Jealous Hypocrites.

....terrible article, by the way. I could write better. Is CBSSports hiring??
