LeFavre James

We now have a winner for Greatest Ego of All Time.

There's only one choice. There will always be only one choice.

LeFavre James.

LeFavre is apparently holding a primetime news conference on ESPN on Thursday night. We'll put aside for a moment that a news organization is allowing itself to be pimped out by LeFavre.

We'll instead focus on the grand, gigantic, Jupiter-sized ego of James. This is one of the most ridiculous things ever done by a professional athlete and that's saying something.

I'm on record stating it's a good thing for James and the other free agents to make as much money as possible. But this is going too far.

James isn't in high school announcing he's going to Florida State. He's a professional athlete, a grown man, and this reeks of horrid ego and childish insecurities.

James is out of control. He will lose the support of a great many people for this and across the NBA players will laugh at him. They'll shake their heads and laugh at him.

All this for a guy who is ringless.

Good luck, LeFavre.

Should we get you some makeup for your primetime appearance?

I couldn't agreee more. The 4-Letter network is selling out to LeFavre's ego. Absolutely rediculous. Just tell us already, we don't wanna watch the parade that goes with it any longer.

Not Rocket Science

This is a really simple concept, and FreeRock is right, and wrong.

Should James have an hour press conference? No.
Should he donate the proceeds to charity? Yes.

If you like Basketball watch it, if you don't like basketball watch something else.  This isn't going to be James talking for an hour so much as it is going to be a T.V. event for ESPN.  This is going to be like the NFL draft except only player is going.  Stewart Scott, camera one.

Here is the thing people.  Don't blame Cleveland, or James, or ESPN, or Freeman, or even the Boys and Girls club for this.  Blame ourselves.  We watch ESPN, and surf CBS Sports.  We buy the tickets, and the jerseys, and blog the games.  Tweet the play-by-plays and facebook our opinions about our teams.

You have two options tomorrow night.  Option one watch this and find out first hand not only where James is going, but what can take up a whole hour when all that needs to be said is three seconds worth of material.  Option two, don't watch it.  Turn on ESPN one minute, one hour, or one day afterwards, it will still be on there, trust me.

I know James camp is going to want people to think they hate the Boys and Girls club if you don't watch, which we all know we don't.  We might hate James, or the NBA, or ESPN so we won't watch.  I am sure we all like the Boys and Girls Club.

So here is what I propose to all of those who are reading this.  The charity already has it money.  The sponsers are already sign, sealed, and checks are in the mail.  Don't watch it.  Let the BAG get its money.  Let the sponsers waste theirs, let ESPN sit in the dark, and let Jame's ego go undrunk by the masses.

Remember people we did this, and we can try to stop this.Next thing you know it will be James for President 2016

Give the guy a break.  This is the biggest basketball free agent moment in history.  He is doing the show to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of America. What is so wrong with that to use this moment to raise money for a great organization? This is such an unnecessary blog. Shame on you.

CRIS freeman, mike ROCK,  I mean Mike Freeman...come on! I liken you to the jealous little boy that couldnt play basketball and takes his ball home so no one can play. Listen, all professional athletes have a desire to controll thier own world and in a world where Gm's and owners controll the lives of these athletes you should be happy to see one individual capitalize off his own abilities. We never say anthing when Nike gives him 60M and makes 500M off him, we didnt say anything when owners make 3x as much from the athlete than thier salary. Oh wait, he is not pocketing any money! it's going to a greater cause, get real! If ESPN or CBS asked him to take the time out and do this w/out paying him you would be saying anthing, and they would NEVER donate the money to a foundation that is largely responsible for helping the inner-city youth. Your perspective is wack!

Let's me first say I could care less if the NBA ratings decline.  Because I watch as many NBA games as I can.  TBS/ESPN/CBS/Chicago/ you name it and I'm watching.  If someone doesn't want to watch, there's always Dancing with Stars they can go watch that, or anything else I don't care.  Just because you cant smell the jealousy by this so called journalist that's your beef not mine.  The stench of jealousy is so overwhelming and palpable in this article it bowls me over.  As far as income ... and here I must laugh... yes I live in my mothers' basement and I'm 29 without a job and I don't even own a car....  Yes, go ahead I believe that, believe what ever makes you sleep at night.  But I still say this article is the "WORST" I have ever read, by a jealous, envious, no talented little man.

Yeah! i believe LeBron is going too far. He maybe thinks that he's that kind of superstar when he's really not! He's not even close to MJ or Kobe, okay, he's not comparable to the latter two. Anyway, we got the same thinking Mike, time wil come this James will be hated i mean will lose support for what he's doing i think he can't handle the fame and that's ridiculous! Think smart James, think SMART!!!

The commercial proceeds for the event are going to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, what have you contributed to charity...scratch that, contributed to anyone's lives other than crappy journalism.

He may have a big ego, but at least he is capitalizing on the event to benefit a good cause. And the Favre comparisons are ridiculous, LeBron has never mislead anyone, reversed his decisions, or alienated legions of loyal supporters.

Why don't you try writing a real article sometime? I guess that would be more difficult than vomiting vapid commentary on things you see on tv into a blog though.

What is ridiculous is not that Lebron James is doing this but that all you lemmons are watching it. Look the NBA is irellevant, has been ever scince Michael Jordan left. NBA is a waste of time it has the length of Baseball with the excitment of golf. The NBA has to take advantage because like it or not people are actually watching this and trying to care. As soon as Football starts the NBA will be irelavant again and everything will right itself.

Good lord what is this guy doing. He's managed to actually make it so I'm not sure if I want him on the Knicks anymore. I know it's going to charity, but how about you just sign with a team like a normal person and just donate to charity yourself. Just a slightly less pompous way to go. I'm surprised he didn't have a press conference to announce tomorrow's special while he was at it.
