Vikings: One team, two jerks

Posted on: October 6, 2010 8:33 am

Brett Favre acts like a petulant child and is rewarded with an exit out of Green Bay and eventually lands with a near Super Bowl team in Minnesota.

Randy Moss acts like a petulant child -- many times -- and ends up with Favre in Minnesota.

The NFL is fantastic.

Two jerks, one city, not enough ego to go around.

Only in sports are jerks repeatedly rewarded despite their childish behavior. Moss and Favre are no different.

The irony here is unavoidable. Moss was cast out of Minnesota because he drove his car into a meter maid and quit the team. Now he's back years later after having more problems in New England.

Bill Belichick wouldn't trade Moss now unless Belichick believed he couldn't get the most out of Moss for the remainder of the season. This trade isn't Belichick being efficient. This is Belichick worried Moss would destroy his locker room. After all, Moss has destroyed locker rooms before.

Two jerks, one team.

Good luck, Vikings.

You're going to need it.

STFU

Freeman, stfu pls. What you are trying to say here is that in order for a player to be effective, he needs to stfu n don't speak his mind at all. What exactly is it that Moss did in NE that makes you think he is a distraction? He spoke his mind and said he will not talk about it anymore the rest of the season and he actually did just that but people like you just keep going on and on about how bad he is. Give it a break dude and you need to stfu.

"Viking fans think they have suddenly locked up a Super Bowl win "

REALLY?  Your as bad as the other dipsh!ts who post garbage on this board.  Face it...The Pats got worked over with this trade. Moss, one of the top 5 or 6 WR in the league for a 3rd round pick?  Doesn't seem fair, and the majority of the Pats fans out there agree.

Let's see how both teams fare going forward...My guess is the Pat's regret dumping Moss for a 3rd rounder, and the Vikings may have salvaged their season.

LOL.. Freeman.. You are nothing but a talentless bigot!    I think I am done wtih CBS Sports.com.  There is no excuse for this piss poor type of so-called journalism.

If you read down below the postings, it says.." The views expressed in this blog are solely those of the author and do not reflect the views of CBS Sports or CBSSports.com.

Yes, it does reflect on your views CBS.   One of you dumbass' had to hire this jack-wad.    So you are being "reflected' on.  I know prisco is an idiot, but he is just a niave little worm.

Freeman is a loser. Pure, plain and simple.   "This is Belichick worried Moss would destroy his locker room."  See?  No elaberation.. no follow up, just a dipshit trying to be a "jerk".

  Sigh... why bother.

If memory serves me correctly Moss has only played in one Super Bowl with the Pats and they lost to the Giants.  So maybe Freeman has a point.

If I were a Viking fan I wouldn't get so giddy since they are going into NJ on Monday night and will probably start the season 1-3.  Then have to play Dallas at home and then off to Green Bay and NE.  Looks like 2-5 to me maybe 1-6 - then the schedule gets easier.

BTW - After giving Moss a long term deal Farvre might come back another season.  In the end the Vikings still do not have a QB of the future.

I agree totally here ! Viking fans think they have suddenly locked up a Super Bowl win ! They haven't. Moss is a major upgrade. FOR NOW. You still have a broken down old fart at QB. He can't escape pressure any more. At least, not as well as he used to. Plus, his arm is not as strong. He will have trouble throwing deep to Moss at times. Green Bay is still the team to beat in the NFC. Dallas, New Orleans and Atlanta will also contend. I don't care what Vikings fans think. They will be quieted soon enough.

Plus, if Moss doesn't get his long-term deal, the Vikings and their fans will have The Distraction in their locker room AGAIN. And even if Moss gets the deal, how happy is he going to be when Favre finally hangs up his jersey for real ??? Tavaris Jackson and Moss ?? I don't think so.

Brett Favre looks out for number one, but I wouldn't say that he acts like a petulant child.  His "reward" for leaving Green Bay wasn't a reward at all, as the Packers pretty well forced him out (yes, I know he already retired and then changed his mind).  You may be forgetting that he went to NY before being sought by the Vikings (as opposed to "landing" with them).

Randy Moss is treating the whole thing as a business, which is exactly what it is.  Belichick is also treating it as a business, which is exactly how he should be treating it.  Obviously Minnesota wanted him back, otherwise the deal wouldn't have come to fruition.  The problem may be a little deeper (ala Sidney Rice's recovery from hip surgery progressing at a snail's pace).  Thus, the deal for Moss.

Two businessmen, one city.  Lots of love to go around once the winning starts happening (unless someone puts up a billboard displaying one of the other professional sports teams in town).

Only in the media are individuals (I won't call ANYONE a jerk) repeatedly rewarded enormous points from CBS for short, thoughtless stories.  Freeman is no different.

Bill Belichick wouldn't trade Moss now unless he believes his team is not top-notch in all aspects of the game.  Defensively, they have some issues, which Moss can't assist with in any event.  Brady has won Super Bowls with no-name receivers, so losing the deep threat is not an issue in my opinion.  Favre will look and throw to Moss often and consistently, so Moss will be as quiet as a mouse in Minnesota.  Favre will get the most out of Moss, no question.

This deal will work out well for both teams this season, so don't worry too much about it, Freeman.  For a member of CBS, you really should cut back on the name calling.

Neither the Vikings or the Patriots need luck, as they both have good football teams.
