Vikings: One team, two jerks

Brett Favre acts like a petulant child and is rewarded with an exit out of Green Bay and eventually lands with a near Super Bowl team in Minnesota.

Randy Moss acts like a petulant child -- many times -- and ends up with Favre in Minnesota.

The NFL is fantastic.

Two jerks, one city, not enough ego to go around.

Only in sports are jerks repeatedly rewarded despite their childish behavior. Moss and Favre are no different.

The irony here is unavoidable. Moss was cast out of Minnesota because he drove his car into a meter maid and quit the team. Now he's back years later after having more problems in New England.

Bill Belichick wouldn't trade Moss now unless Belichick believed he couldn't get the most out of Moss for the remainder of the season. This trade isn't Belichick being efficient. This is Belichick worried Moss would destroy his locker room. After all, Moss has destroyed locker rooms before.

Two jerks, one team.

Good luck, Vikings.

You're going to need it.

The Jerk here is Mr. Freeman.  When you decide to retire and sit back in your rocking chair thinking about your career and you read a column on CBSSportline and you think to yourself I can still do that better and they come calling and say Mr. Freeman how about we pay you nine million dollars guaranteed to come write columns for us for one more year.  You call me when you turn that down.  Brett Farve was in that same position and the Vikings know his run is about over and they know they need some weapons to get the best out of him and to open running lanes for Adrian Peterson.  Moss will be effective especially if the Vikings give him a multi year contract.  Moss always performs when he feels appreciated.  I'm not  a Vikings fan but I will be rooting for them and think when they get Rice back, with Moss if they can get into the playoffs no one will want to play them.

Anyone can say what they want.  But think of it like this, what team is going to be able to handle Moss, Rice, Harvin, Shiancoe, and Peterson all at once? Oh, and with Favre managing the game, who does hold pretty much every record for the QB position, both good and bad.  He is getting up in age, but he is still the best at managing the game.  Picking up Moss was the right thing for the Vikes to do.  And most of you haters out there most likely are not Vikings fans, and are just scared.

I anyone is a jerk here it is the author of this article.  As a sportswriter, I would like to see articles about what good or bad the team may be because of the trade.  Name calling is childish and counter-productive.

Say what you will about the trade, but this is one of the best moves the Vikings could have made to save this season.  First, they immediately regain their offense prowress that they lost when Sidney Rice got hurt, and if Rice gets healthy before the end of the year, the Vikings could well go deep into the playoffs.

Personalities shouldn't be an issue, because they both have the same goal, and they both know that their careers are winding down, so it's time to make hay while the sunshines.  Moss won't have to beg for touches, he's gonna see the ball as much as he can handle, and Farve will be so happy to have a target that he's gonna grin from ear to ear till the seasons over, late in February.

Hey EDGEOSEAT.....

How DARE you call ME (or ANY Vikings fan) a "misguided jerk" for rooting for MY team.  My roots with MY team run deep....I bleed Purple this time of the year no matter WHO is wearing the uniform.  Freeman is correct to a degree on BOTH Favre and Moss, BUT....the Vikings ARE better off as a team with both of these guys on the roster.  For the record, I hated the fact and I am still NOT a fan of Favre and his BS that he has pulled.  However, WINNING cures a lot of ills and I AM rooting for guys like Jared Allen, Antoine Winfield and Adrian Peterson to win a Super Bowl and if it takes guys kije Favre and Moss to do it, then so be it.  So, quit making ignorant blanket statements about Viking fans and go back to rooting for the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills......Loser!!!!!!

Spot on, Freeman. I hope these two tired old egomaniacs enjoy each other's miserable company. Here's to the impending Viqueens implosion and miserable future! Enjoy being Detroit for the next decade.

Yes, because nice guys finish first.  That's how the saying goes, right?

Jerry Rice seems to think so.  What about T.O. and Moss?

Freeman is a joke.  We'll see who needs luck when Favre is throwing multiple TD's to Moss every game.

He probably gets paid by the hit when truly educated fans post intelligent comments like "Freeman's a jerk."  I bet he laughs his way to the bank every time he cashes a paycheck.
