Charlie Weis and the Florida Gators

TAMPA, FL. -- Current Kansas City Chiefs assistant Charlie Weis will likely be announced as the new offensive coordinator for the Florida Gators as early as Monday, an NFL source confirmed to CBSSports.com.

The hiring of Weis is a major coup for the Gators who just beat Penn State here in the Outback Bowl. While Weis was a failure as a head coach at Notre Dame he still remains one of the better tactical minds in college football. For a variety of reasons, his smarts never translated when he coached the Irish.

They have at Kansas City. One of the main reasons for the Chiefs' turnaround is because of the work Weis has done with quarterback Matt Cassel and that offense. Cassel has thrown 27 touchdowns and only five interceptions this season.

Weis is now bringing those pro style manueverings to Florida. Weis, in many ways, is a better offensive coach than Urban Meyer. (Yes, you read that correctly. Count the Super Bowl rings.)

But why is Weis making this move?

I'm told Weis truly enjoyed coaching on the college level and wants another shot at a college head coaching job. He views this move -- should it happen -- as the best way to achieve that goal.

Florida now has one of the best assistant coaching staffs in all of college football. The addition of Weis could be a recruiting nightmare for other programs in the state.

Since we have the West locked up and Indy needs to win, i could see them taking over the 3 seed and getting the Jets anyway

See what happens when you take a second and think about the situation before you make gurantees....... So i guess your on to the one and done Colts instead, lol.

The NFC West does suck but guess what we won't play them for 4 years now and will be playing a 1st place schedule for years to come as well. KC can be 11-4 with Cassel under center after today, thats solid with any schedule. We barely beat Buff and Cleveland but i could have swore those same teams took the Jets and Steelers to OT this year, hmm..... Maybe they have pro players to on those teams. It's not like we talked smack and then got blown out by 40 points or something stupid like that. Chiefs are a top 5 team in the AFC heading into next year and I could careless who is on the schedule, I know 8 games we'll be favored in without even looking at the schedules. Almost game time to go 3-3 in the division and 11-5 for the 3 seed in the AFC, now go watch the Jets try to make that 6 seed sound good.

The Chiefs have won 10 games. I don't care who they played. They won 10 games. The only way to settle who is better between the Chiefs & Jets or Chiefs & Ravens is to play the game. KC has had a great turnaround this year. They are a whole lot better than most people expected they'd be. It can't be taken for granted that they will get their butts kicked by whoever they play. I don't see a Super Bowl in their future this year. But I do see a great deal of improvement in a young team. They're going to be a pretty good team for the next few years.

Next year...you play the Pats,Steelers (they will win today) and the Colts (they will win today). You better win your game today vs Oakland. Otherwise, Baltimore will kick your tails. By winning, while I feel the Jets will beat you...you have a far better chance vs us than Baltimore. Plus, you play Pitt instead of NE in the Divisional. Maybe Baltimore or Indy will do you a favor by beating NE in the Divisional too. Baltimore is the one team that matches up well with NE. Unfortunately, Ravens have issues with Pitt and Indy. Weird.

I might also add....You are 2-3 in your own division. Plus barely won vs Cleveland and Buffalo with your last place schedule. I'm not convinced you are for real. Time will tell next weekend I suppose. Good luck !

Jets have won exactly two division titles (98' and 02') and 5 playoff games since your last postseason win to answer your question on "Jets droughts."

Seattle doesn't count as a playoff team even if they win today. With that said.....You have played exactly ONE....I repeat, ONE team that will be in the playoffs this year. The Colts. Cassel had his absolute worst passing game of the season that year too. No TD's and around 150 yards. Your 10 wins have been built on AFC West and NFC West creampuffs. Jets have had much harder draws this year with NE,Pitt,Balt and teams in the NFC North. You won a division playing Ten games vs the two WORST divisions. You won't get that fortune next year as I assume your schedule will be much tougher. I will eat crow if the Jets lose in Arrowhead but I once again don't see that happening.

Your team reminds me of the 2004 Chargers....Celebrated a division title after a long playoff drought and came out flat

Not sure making the playoffs last in 2007 would be considered a long streak and doesn't every division winner celebrate winning the division. As far as the last playoff win coming in 93, i'm well aware of that and it sucks but luckily none of those games will effect next weeks outcome. Just saying when your 8-0 at home and have a 6 seed coming into town you have to like your chances of winning that game. Since you like talking about droughts, when exactly was the Jets last division title? I'll agree with one thing you said, that Baltimore would be a much tougher draw in the 1st round then the Jets. However listening all week to your coach, players, and fans gurantee wins and put on a media show could be entertaining, we see how well that has worked recently.

Yeah your an idiot.  Nobody on this team was on any of those teams and the whole front office is different.  If the past is any revelance then Sanchez should guarantee a win and everything will be alirght, right?  No, proly not.  Arrowhead is the best home field advantage there is so if you think the Jets will just waltz in here and get an easy win then your sadly mistaken.  Cassell is getting better every week and to say he is worse than Steve Bono makes you look even dumber.

I'll make ya a deal. If the Chiefs and Jets end up playing, here's the wager. KC wins, you have to put a chiefs logo on your avatar for the rest of the playoffs if you can figure that out.  If the Jets win, I will put up a big picture of Mark Sanchez as my avatar. You have got to be kidding me that Sanchez and Cassell are the same. I went and read some of your posts on other pages. You like to be antagnostic (Baltimore's restaurants, Rex ryan's feet which you seem to have a fascination with for some reason, but I will leave that alone) and that's typical Northeastern guy, but we'll see what happens in K.C. Your not a bad writer but to say that Sanchez and Cassell are similar is just asinine. Compare the numbers, TD's, interceptions, yards and then get back to me. Sanchez looks terrible when the team is down. I think the Jets have a decent team and have shown they can play with anyone, but you are assuming this game is a lock and that's a big mistake. We got a wager? Your profile would look great with a big red and white KC logo.
