A conference call with players on Thursday demonstrated that even super wealthy athletes have the same concerns about paying for health care as the average American.
The conference call with players centered on COBRA health care questions, CBSSports.com has learned. Mainly, the union wanted its membership to understand the complexities of extending health care benefits should the lockout happen on March 3.
If the lockout does occur, basically, players will have to begin thinking of ways to fund their own health care coverage.
Since many of the players have saved millions of dollars, taking care of these expenses isn't as dramatic as it is for so many other Americans, especially poor Americans.
Nevertheless, according to a person with knowledge of the call, what happens with health care during a potential lockout was a major concern expressed by the players.
