Could draftees wear NFLPA hats on stage?

The following scene could happen at the NFL draft.

Team selects player. Player at the draft is told he's been picked by, say, the New York Giants. Player is backstage with mother, father, sister and Aunt Joan. Everyone hugs. Someone cries. Someone always cries. Player walks out to shake hands with commissioner Roger Goodell.

But instead of sticking to tradition of wearing cap of team that just selected the player, maybe the draftee instead wears an NFLPA cap as a show of support for the former union while on stage with the commissioner. Such a maneuver would be a direct thumb in the eye of Goodell, if it happened.

This is all hypothetical but I wouldn't be shocked if we saw this. Wouldn't be shocked at all.

There could be other potential statements. I'm getting the feeling that the trade association isn't going to let the draft slip by without some sort of public show of unity and I'm getting the feeling the NFL will try to stop any such show.

Which is why this draft could be so interesting to watch.

Yo! Jetsfan.....wait up you obviously are not aware of banking rules. The NFLPA is still a
banking entity with proper trustees and overseers. It's lke a credit union as these guys
have put money into a bank for some time and have the right to write checks and disperse
money however they so choose etc. They have not gone default in that aspect and all monies
and checks are still good.

It's like my school Alumni Association....we are no any type of union but we have by-laws and
specific rules for the organization and I'm sure they do to on how things are operated.

When it comes to a union which negotiates a labor contract THAT is where the difference
comes into play and they have shown (and I'm sure the NLRB will ceretainly agree with the owners)
that basically they're not an official union anymore and there are specific questions that come
into play BUT are forced into negotiations and back to the table by court order.

Sorry...hit wrong button....but speaking of hitting the wrong button last I knew there is no
such thing as a NFLPA so if it does happen nobody would give a crap anyway.

Most of us are preparing for a lost season because of the "need of greed."

Actually, the NFLPA has no bargaining power, it's the lawyers who are negotiating now, and it just so happens that DeMaurice Smith has a law degree and is a lawyer.

My only issue is this guy, it seems like at least 2-3 times a week he comes up with some outlandish story and says it's from sources who want to remain anonymous, but yet no other news organization has access to these stories?  Because I have not seen his "stories" on other news or sports websites.  That's my problem, and yes, I understand this was an opinion article.

Could draftees wear NFLPA hats on stage?

I guess me and kiknazz are the only ones who actually know how it works. Meanwhile, everyone is still crying that the NFLPA "doesn't exist." Would one of you with such an imagination mind telling me why banks tomorrow will accept checks from the NFLPA that players are cashing? Maybe I should go write a check from a fake organization and go cash it. Oh wait... THE NFLPA DOES EXIST.

Legally they are not a union.  They are a legal Trade Association.  As stupid as it sounds, it is what it is legally.  If a draftee were to wear a hat other than the team, it would be of the NFLPA "Trade Association".  Legal is as Legal does

THe Union decertified but they are still a trade association and the NFLPA still exists.  They keep this body due to they need a negotiation team.  So no there is not a Union but the players are still represented by the NFLPA as they are the ones negotiating a new deal.

Has every one forgot that ther is NO SUCH THING AS AN NFLPA.  They decertified. They don't exist.  By continually refering to the NFLPA we are doing 2 things...

1) Proving for the owners and the courts that the Union decertification was a shame and used as a negotiation tactic in bad faith.

OR

2) Proving for the players that they are in control of the game and are the league, the owners and the fans can do nothing about it.

Maybe all the owners and league officials will wear an old Dallas Texans (NFL- Not the AFL predecessor to Lamar Hunt's KC Chiefs) hat  to show their solidarity.  Why remind every one that they have the unltimate power... they can fold a team at a moments notice. Where woudl the player be then.
