Could draftees wear NFLPA hats on stage?

The following scene could happen at the NFL draft.

Team selects player. Player at the draft is told he's been picked by, say, the New York Giants. Player is backstage with mother, father, sister and Aunt Joan. Everyone hugs. Someone cries. Someone always cries. Player walks out to shake hands with commissioner Roger Goodell.

But instead of sticking to tradition of wearing cap of team that just selected the player, maybe the draftee instead wears an NFLPA cap as a show of support for the former union while on stage with the commissioner. Such a maneuver would be a direct thumb in the eye of Goodell, if it happened.

This is all hypothetical but I wouldn't be shocked if we saw this. Wouldn't be shocked at all.

There could be other potential statements. I'm getting the feeling that the trade association isn't going to let the draft slip by without some sort of public show of unity and I'm getting the feeling the NFL will try to stop any such show.

Which is why this draft could be so interesting to watch.

Could draftees wear NFLPA hats on stage?

This article is complete conjecture and speculation, without any reporting or insight. Random thoughts like this do not deserve a viewing place unless it is prefaced with the words "Editorial." This was a waste of two clicks on this web page, and I am sincerely upset by this.

Protest!

why would the players show up and support these billionaire owners who refuse to pay the players all the money they are demanding?  They shouild boycott the draft!  The owners have plenty of extra money and should pay the players expenses during the lockout.  The players are having to borrow money to pay all their bills.

Could draftees wear NFLPA hats on stage?

While I get this is a what if article from the bored brain of Freeman, what is not a what if is that the NFLPA is pressuring these kids to try and do something to show up the NFL at the draft. It is truly pathetic that they have even thought about using these kids once in a lifetime day to support their cause. If any of these players fall into the trap it will truly be a shame. To the rookies, ENJOY YOUR DAY and tell the NFLPA to stick it where the sun don't shine. Truth is when a deal is reached I's sure they will sell out the same people they are pressuring now with a rookie cap.

Sometimes it seems like this writer likes to listen to himself talk and hope that others follow. Players and owners stop the games do a deal.

Not a union but a Trade Association.  These are the legalities of life

Legally they are not a union.  They are a legal Trade Association.  As stupid as it sounds, it is what it is legally.  If a draftee were to wear a hat other than the team, it would be of the NFLPA "Trade Association".  Legal is as Legal does.

So, basicly they would be wearing hats for an organization that DOESN`T exsist. I always thought the union couldn`t get any leader worse than upshaw, but I was wrong.

It's not a bad idea for a draftee to possibly try this even if it doesn't work.  It's just a guess at what might happen.  Reading the comments are interesting though.  The hate some people have for writers is amazing.  It's like he took a wizz in yalls cheerios or something.  Yall should check the hate at the door and just enjoy the article for what it is.  Think to many of you are just trying to make a rep on here off of tearing up a writer.  Lame way to try and make your name by hopping on a bandwagon.
