Tiki Barber:
He's always been a brilliant idiot. Easily one of the most intelligent people I've covered and also one of the more tone deaf. It's not a stunner that he made some truly insensitive comments in an interview with Sports Illustrated in which he compared himself to Anne Frank. And, in a nutshell, that's Barber. So much good, and so much phony. When in New York, he was always vastly underrated as a player. I covered Barber for most of his career and he remains one of the most versatile backs I've seen. He was also among the most arrogant. Most Giants players hated Barber. I mean, hated him. They thought he was a pompous putz on a lifelong journey to show the world he was smarter than most of his football peers. He worked some members of the New York media (and by worked, I mean suckered) into them portraying him as a combination of Jim Brown, Walter Cronkite and Marlon Brando.

Instances like this one were the reason why he was so disliked. Frank died in a concentration camp as a teenager after hiding from the Nazis for two years. I'm trying to think how a football player who cheated on his pregnant wife compares to a victim of the Nazis. Nothing comes to mind. Maybe it will later. There are a few things athletes should never do: compare themselves to slaves or victims of the Holocaust.

As for Barber, my guess is, his comeback will have moderate success. Barber always had a lot of heart. He was tough and he didn't leave the game because he was physically battered. Barber left because he thought he was on his way to one day host the CBS Evening News. He'll catch on somewhere and one day, I bet, he'll compare himself to Martin Luther King.

See you Monday.

Yet another example of the combination of arrogance and ingnorance. How a spoiled, pampered former athlete can compare himself to a teenage Jewish girl who perished at the hands of the Nazi's is beyond understanding. I'd ask 'what was he thinking', but it's obvious he was doing little 'thinking' just running his big, stupid, arrogant mouth. What an imbecile.

?  Seriously?  CONTEXT?  There is NO context in which you can compare yourself to Anne Frank.  None.  Nor can you compare youself to a slave.  If you are comparing youself to those people for any reason, you are clueless.  There is zero context in Tiki's comparing himeself to Anne Frank.

CONTEXT.  You must consider the CONTEXT.  I am not a fan of the work that Tiki has done outside of the lines on a football field...on the field the man single handedly won me a fantasy football title with a 96 yard run against the Raiders, but I digress.

He did not literally compare himself to Anne Frank.  Read the article in it's entirety and consider the context before condemning the man.

Consider this, how many times do you think Anne Frank cursed the darkness she was surrounded by while in hiding?  Take that out of context and she becomes a racist..."Man, it sure is dark in here, I am scared"  or  "Man I hate being surrounded by all this darkness".  If I had a nickel for every time Woody Allen mumbled that under his breath at a Knicks games I'd be a rich man.

Lighten up people.  Life is to be enjoyed, not over analyzed!!!

You guys need to go read the article that is linked.

It's BS.

The comparison he made was truly only in physical location.

He was staying in the attack of his JEWISH agent and said it was like a "Reverse Anne Frank".

Too much BS politically correctess combined with poor journalism, and bleeding heart wussie makes this out to be more than it is. It wasn't a slur and he wasn;t being derogatory.

Nothing more than some idiot making a mountain of a mole hill, if it was even a hill.

Mike Freeman you're a moron and I still can't believe somene let's you write for this site...unbelievable.

OK so my next question would be why do you get "so angry" at the uneducated, unintelleigent jocks? When I hear/see someone running off at the mouth about something they "have no idea" about I simply laugh it off as ignorance or I might help them in a way to be truely informed. Alot of these upset Jews also "have no idea" what those of the holocaust went threw....just stories. So isnt it just as bad for them to get their panties teisted in a knot over something they arent "up on"? Just keeps the circle of ignorance going and going.

Ah yeah, you are anti-semitic.  First off, you can't spell and you're grammar is terrible.  And supposedly you have some secret knowledge about Zionism?  Come on man, the Holocaust was truly horrific, as was many of the other things such as slavery, the extermination of the Native Americans, and the suffering of the Chinese under Mao.  But the crust of the article was that Tiki Barber is a moron who shoots off his mouth and says ignorant things.  Apparently you fit into that category too.

It was one of the worst things that ever happened to humans.  No one was saying it was the only horrible act.  Yet it is one of the most massive horrific events that ever happened to a group of humans.  In either case, you can't possible imagine what happened to those people - not in your worst nightmare.  Not now, not ever (or any of the other insane acts against humans).

As for Tiki, he is just another NFL (and yes - uninformed ESPN type reporter) player.  These guys take the worst events in human history and liken themselves to that.  These guys have no idea (and I mean NO IDEA) what it was like to be a slave or Anne Frank.  It's these uniformed and flat out stupid remarks that anger everyone.  These guys continue to insult all those who lived through the worst possible circumstances.  Now you know why everyone HATES (as the painfully uneducated Rashard puts it) players.

I think another thing that gets people upset is that all the sports reporters come out and start their reports with "these guys are intelleigent".  They are not.
