More NFL optimism (for now)

There is a still a great deal of work to do, and any agreements could unravel at any day, hour or minute, but it appears the owners and players have made significant headway in reaching a new labor agreement, according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

One high ranking member of the former union estimated to me a new deal would be reached within two to three weeks, if not sooner. “This is the most optimistic I’ve been in many months,” he said.

But, like many sources, he urged extreme caution, saying talks could easily break down. “There’s a great deal of animosity to work through,” he said.

The sides will continue to talk in the coming days.

@hatebost........And I think they should ban posters who can't spellz or put together a coherent thought. Is the only way your team can win if they eliminate the competition? I hate the Pats and know that what they did is done by ALL teams so says every former coach in the NFL, NE was just too stupid about it. So stop looking for excuses and be glad your team was lucky enough to get five interceptions in thier last SB.

Let's see.  OMG! It's almost 4 o'clock and I don't have a story!  The Boss is going to let me have it...  Wait, I can use the "unnamed source" and write an obfuscation about the NFL lockout.  My job will be saved and people will post like mad.  It's great that rumors come to live in immortaility on the web.

Question: How can the players collectively bargain when they no longer have a union?  Just curious.  You lawyers out there please enlighten me.

Whomever Freeman's source is, he should keep his mouth shut.  Why take the chance of ruining the deal by blabbing about it early?
