The hangup: players still asking for cash

Logan Mankins and Vincent Jackson are still asking for cash compensation and that is one of the holdups over the finalizing of the CBA agreement, a source with knowledge of the situation told me.

Mankins and Jackson are still asking for $10 million each and this is slowing the process, the source explained. Jackson has denied he is seeking compensation.

And just to be clear: Mankins and Jackson are not themselves asking for the money. Lawyers representing them are.

The lawsuit against the NFL cannot be settled until all the plaintiffs agree and as of late Wednesday night, the source said, Mankins and Jackson were still seeking payment. The NFL, thus far, refuses to agree.

My guess: tomorrow, after more criticism, the two men will drop their requests and the CBA will be agreed to by the players and owners.

If Mankins and Jackson continue this course of action they may need to move to an isolated island in the Pacific.

Sure sounds like those reports of owners trying to sneak things in were BS from the BS machine DeMaurice Smith, the NFLPA and the players have become known to be. Liars, and greedy pathetic men. All of them in the Brady suit.

"And just to be clear: Mankins and Jackson are not themselves asking for the money. Lawyers representing them are."  Why even put this little caveat?  IF those two tools aren't asking for it, and saying its their greedy attorneys doing it, then the answer is simple: Fire them.  But, oddly enough, you don't see that happening.  Screw ALL the greedy asses in the NFL and the NBA; I'd much rather watch high school and college football anyway.

Logan Mankins and Vincent Jackson are complete jerks for trying to force special compensation just for themselves.

I hope there are lots of other Players that are really upset with them and they make their lives miserable.

The Owners will never give in to these two idiots because that would open the door for many others to want the same thing.

Craven, You made some interesting points but your overall view of the situation is very narrow.  You even state some things in your own post that are not possible if there is no Players Union and an aggreed to CBA.

You can not have the Players become Free agents after 4 years. They have to always be Free agents just like me at my job. I can quit today and go work for another company.

There can be know Draft.  There can be no Franchise or Transition tags.

There is parity in the NFL because of all these things that the NFL can have when there is a Players Union and an agreed to CBA.
