The end of McNabb in Washington near?

Posted on: July 26, 2011 11:41 pm

A league source has confirmed to me that Donovan McNabb is inching closer to leaving Washington and joining Minnesota. Closer, closer, closer but not done. Not yet.

The Vikings and Redskins have agreed on a deal that sends McNabb to Minnesota for a late-round pick, the source said. The source also said that reports McNabb is holding up the deal are untrue. My guess would be that Washington is trying to bleed the Vikings dry for everything they can so as to help justify the trade. McNabb is willing to drastically reduce his salary, I'm told.

There's one other thing that's interesting. It's possible, I'm told, that McNabb would have a very short leash in Minnesota. The organization wants to give Chrisitian Ponder every opportunity to play, I'm told, and should McNabb stumble like he did in Washington the Vikings might not hesitate to pull McNabb.

Sure you aren't a Philly fan, imcapeman?  Only Philadelphia fans could disrespect the likes of Schmidt and McNabb, but apparently it's catching.  McNabb was put in the totally wrong system with the totally wrong coach and supporting cast, then criticized for it??  I don't know what he has left, but I wouldn't be surprised if he surprised fans with his performance this year IF he's given half a chance in Minnesota.  Do Vikings fans REALLY want to throw a stone-cold rookie into the starting line-up in that division with next-to-no training camp?  Sounds like McNabb is a smart move to me, especially if the price is as low as rumored.  Good luck, Vikes.

Any Redskin fan coming on this post bashing McNabb for your teams utter failure needs to wipe their mouth, because obvioulsy you're sucking down all the stuff Shanahan shoots out.

The Redskins have sucked since Snider bought them. The once fierce franchise has become a joke.
Shanahan may be the one that's washed up?

McNabb will look far from washed up playing for the Queens and playing indoors 9 out of 16 games in PERFECT conditions.
Though I hate the Queens, they're a far superior team to the Redskins, it's not even close.

Time will tell.

The end of McNabb in Washington near?

I like the Donovan McNabb trade for a few reasons.  He is a West Coast QB.  He's ben to the Super Bowl.  He is in the mental prime of his football career.  He still has a cannon arm, decent mobility, and most important is he has a chip on his shoulder.  That's what pushes theses great athlete's to greater heights, something to prove.  He is a competitor and the Vikings needed a Veteran, period.  Whether it be starting or on the depth chart they needed a Vet and they actually got one with a ton of upside.  Remeber the tools he has to work with even if Sidney Rice signs with the Seahawks. They've got a stable of RB's led by AP.  They've got 3 top tier TE's.  They also have triple threat Percy Harvin.  And, they will have an offenses best friend, a dominating defense.

McNabb, best choice out there for the Vikings, but I would wait for the Skins to outright release him and pick him up for peanuts.  Joe Webb can start and proved it last year till Ponder is ready.

This will make the Vikings just good enough to have no chance at drafting Andrew Luck.  Hope McNabb can run the two minute offense.  Have fun with your 6-10 season Minnesota Fans ... Can anybody say Los Angeles here we come.

Hey Minnesota!  Enjoy watching McNabb throw the ball into the turf for the first 6 weeks of the season until he is benched.  As a 'Skins fan, I now understand why the Philly fans were made so crazy by this guy.  It's like sitting down for a great steak dinner and getting grizzled horse meat instead!  You may be fourth in your division this year.

I welcome McNabb,  now we just need to sign Rice.  Ponder is not going to be ready this year and maybe next.  With AP and hopefully rice, it could make pretty good offense.

What a great fit for the Vikings and Donovan McNabb. It's the perfect situation. First, they have a decent offensive line and if Sidney Rice remains, he will have Percy Harvin and Rice to throw to...plus, they have a running game. OMG...what's that said the Redskins??? McNabb was treated horribly in Washington, and I expect him to do a lot better in Minnesota. Can't imagine them wanting to turn anything over to Christian Ponder right away..he's a rookie and he's not that good. He hasn't thrown a pass, and already you're talking about him unseating McNabb. That's insane!!!

id rather have mcnabb over farve and hasselback. but id rather have locker over ponder...im just saying. viking fan stop crying. mcnabb is a tremendous upgrade way better than anything u have. u should be worried bout re-signing sydney rice. if u loose rice, then that gives u reason to cry. mcnabb/peterson/rice=playoffs.
