The end of McNabb in Washington near?

Posted on: July 26, 2011 11:41 pm
A league source has confirmed to me that Donovan McNabb is inching closer to leaving Washington and joining Minnesota. Closer, closer, closer but not done. Not yet.

The Vikings and Redskins have agreed on a deal that sends McNabb to Minnesota for a late-round pick, the source said. The source also said that reports McNabb is holding up the deal are untrue. My guess would be that Washington is trying to bleed the Vikings dry for everything they can so as to help justify the trade. McNabb is willing to drastically reduce his salary, I'm told.

There's one other thing that's interesting. It's possible, I'm told, that McNabb would have a very short leash in Minnesota. The organization wants to give Chrisitian Ponder every opportunity to play, I'm told, and should McNabb stumble like he did in Washington the Vikings might not hesitate to pull McNabb.

The end of McNabb in Washington near?

Mc Nabb has plenty left in the tank and will make the Viks a winner maybe not a Superbowl winner but teams will not be able to dismiss the passing game. Ponder (rookie) no playoff shot. Washington had nothing and I mean nothing for the guy to work with Santana Moss? recovering Cooley? What run game? Offensive/Offensive line. Please , the guy will toss 20 plus TDS with the Viks and everyone will be surprised? Only if you're a moron...........wink.

The end of McNabb in Washington near?

I have never understood all of the McNabb haters, the guys whole career he gets bashed by the media and he doesn't say a word, just grins and takes it on the chin.
Undeserved bashing in Washington, a franchise that's been a total joke since Snider took it over. Shanahan? Don't get me started with that one-eyed goony goo-goo........Mike's lost his mind.

Back to McNabb ..........His whole career all he's done is win.
Most of his entire Philly career he NEVER had any decent receivers, never. Not like Vick has now, that's for sure.

I have to laugh at these Vikings fans that are already on his bash wagon. I hate the Vikings, but mainly I hate their fans, some of the biggest wagon rider fans in all of sports. When the teams winning they love everything the team does, when they're losing, you can't find a fan for miles.

I believe this is a great fit for McNabb, while he certainly is at the end of his career, he's not done and this makes perfect sense for the Vikings beings they drafted Ponder.

I'm willing to bet if it does indeed happen, the Vikes will win with McNabb and you'll see plenty of purple McNabb jerseys being worn.

And that's the truth. McNabb has always been overated. Almost as much as Jow Thiesman was. The Vikings should, and probably realize he worthless as an NFL starting QB. Reid and the Eagles brass made a great move when they sent him packing. It was and still is clear that he is on a sharp downhill slide.

Ive never liked McNabb... but I understand the logic.  I would MUCH rather see Palmer of Orton in purple.... but that would wash out Ponder.  So yeah I get it... but Im not excited about it.

Oh by the way.... what QB has looked good for the redskins in say the past 20 years?

I have no idea what it would take to get this team to the super bowl, I have been a big fan and follower of the Minnesota Vikings
and have seen some great quarterbacks play here ,also some great running backs. Funny I lived in the Chicago Area for 57 years and never liked Chicago Bears ,even when they won the super bowl in 1985, I even betted against them . Fran Tarkenton was always my favourite quarteback,Merlen Olsen was once asked how it was to play against Fran Tarkenton and he said when the day was over your tounge was dragging the ground.
He was one hell of a scrambler. They also had some of the best denfenses ever the Purple People Eaters ,Carl Eller,Page and co. they also had
some bad outdoor weather to play in in Minnesota . also some great running backs , Ontario Smith , Chuck Forman , Adrian Petterson .
Minnesota is not the only team to have great Quarterbacks miss or lose superbowls , look at Jim Kelly of Buffalo 4 straight super bowl loses ,that is unheard of . Marino never won a super bowl ... I just keep believing in this team don't ask me why been 51 years now so I am way too old to change teams again at my age. My biggest upset was when Minnesota played Kansas City Chiefs in super bowl and Vikes were favored by 24 pts , got creamed by the Kansas city Chiefs , I don't know what they need at this time , I am not impressed with head coach at this time so its always going to be something .

Personally, I think McNabb got a raw deal in Washington.  Be that as it may, everyone knew McNabb was on his way out at the end of last season, and at that point he was the backup, so what's the point of counting down the days.  Bleed the Vikings dry is a bit superfluous don't you think?  Maybe 'Milking' is more appropriate... What Ditka did to draft Ricky Williams might fit into the 'Bleed Dry' category.

I don't think Shanahan liked McNabb from the start and it showed in how he treated him ! McNabb would probably do better in Minn because they have decent receivers and arguably the games best rb in Peterson ! I like his chances in Minn vs his chances in Wash !

Shanahan rode Elways coattail for a long long time in Denver and he will never find another QB like Elway so he needs to work with the QBs he has and deal with it !

This should work for a little while at least ? I mean Culpepper, Cunningham & Favre did, just to name a few over the past 15 seasons. Tavares Jackson even had the Vikings in the playoffs and thinking a run of sorts. If the Vikings don't go all the way, McNabb will be the reason they didn't do it just the same. I guess Kapp & Tarkenton stunk too for being short of winning a Super Bowl too ?
