Plax, Giants using each other

It's impossible to believe that Plaxico Burress and the Giants are serious about each other. Impossible. No way. Not buying it at all.

Here's what I think is happening. They are using each other. Burress looks like a rehabilitated man, talking with his old team, the classy New York Giants. The Giants look like they are open minded meeting with Burress and they ease the anger of some of their fans who want the Giants to at least talk to Burress.

This is a PR dance with PR benefits for both.

Could I be wrong? Sure. Teams have swallowed their pride before in signing far worse human beings than Burress. Plax may have been an irresponsible player fined over four dozen times by the Giants for various petty offenses and he may have shot himself but he's no toad.

Still, it's just extremely difficult to believe coach Tom Coughlin would take Burress back. Old dogs like Coughlin have long memories and can only change so much. He still remembers all those times Burress was late for meetings or blew him off.

The two sides will keep talking and Burress will indeed land with a New York team, just the other one.

Just as long as he doesn't go to an NFC East team. Everything will be fine.

Don't worry Mike, the Giants are not that serious about reuniting with Plaxico. Over two months ago Brandon Jacobs was cited in the New York Daily News as one of the sources as saying that Plaxico does not want to have anything to do with New York. This in my opinion would include the Jets as well. Here is the link from the New York Daily News: .

The two sides will keep talking and Burress will indeed land with a New York team, just the other one.
I doubt that he will lands with the Jets either. Their top wide receiver priority is in re-signing Santonio Holmes.

Since Plaxico's release from prison a couple of months ago I created a poll where many CBS Sports.com members weighed in with their speculations on where they thought Plaxico might land. Here is the link to it for those interested in participating: .
