Plaxico Burress will indeed join the Jets, according to a team source.

The details aren't exactly known but Burress accepted the Jets' offer. It's a one-year deal.

The Jets now have one of the best wide receiver groups in the league. When I tweeted that earlier it caused an avalanche of smart-ass-ness including from wanna be GM Pete Prisco. But I have a higher opinion of Burress as a player than others. I think he's one of the most physically gifted wide receivers of the past decade and his stint in prison doesn't scare me. Just like Mike Vick's stint in the hoosegow didn't totally scare me and we see what Vick did at a much tougher position to re-master.

Vick emerged from prison a better player. I think Burress can as well.

Burress was out west visiting the San Francisco 49ers. The story actually first leaked when a friend of Burress, running back Fred Taylor, congratulated Burress on his joining the Jets.

Burress later wrote on his Twitter page: "East Coast here I come!"

Burress recently had a meeting with his former coach, Tom Coughlin. Coughlin described the meeting as pleasant but Burress' meeting with the Jets must have been more pleasant. Burress also met with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Jets lost out on a great defensive back but they gain a terrific wide receiver.

This will be a perfect litmus test to see if Sanchez is the real deal or just a pretty boy living off his hype. Kinda pulling for the guy.

If the Jets find players willing to restructure as they did prior to Steve Miller Asomugha "Flying like an Eagle" and "Taking the money and running" to Lurie and Banner, we can still get Randy Moss and Antonio Cromartie. Eric Smith is at best average at safety. I do not trust Kyle Wilson at this point to play opposite Revis. Jets need to address CB and pass rush especially still.

Plaxico to Jets

A couple of months ago upon his release from prison I created a poll here on CBS asking users what team did they think Plaxico Buress would be going to. Here is the link to that poll: . My initial gut instinct was that Plaxico would indeed be going to the New York Jets. Below were the comments that I initially made:

Like many of the poll respondents thus far I too voted 'other'. A team that I can actually see Plaxico Burress winding up with is he New York . With the contract status of and being up in the air Plaxico could very well become Plan B for the Jets if either or both of the other two decide to leave.
The point that I am driving at is that Braylon Edwards' recently pleading guilty to the DUI charges from his arrest last year and the impending suspension from Commissioner Roger Goodell (which is expected to be 4 games) made Edwards expendable. This in turn  created this opportunity for Plaxico. Hopefully Plaxico will follow in the footsteps of Michael Vick (e.g. continuously striving to being a model citizen) and not in those of Adam "Pacman" Jones. Good luck Plax.

Who needs 30 year old elite cornerbacks like Nnamdi Asomugha when you can sign a 33-year-old has been fresh out of jail. Bang up job, jets.

How much glue do you think Freeman sniffed before he wrote this?  And I don't ask that just because calling the Jets WR corps one of the best in the game is proposterous. This is probably the worst written editorial I've ever read in my lfe. It was a painful read and I am now dumber. I award you zero points and..... you know the rest.
