OPENING HIT: Of course it's not time to panic in Philadelphia. Right. Right?

Panic? No way. Concern over Mike Vick's three interceptions? Definitely. Here's why.

It's the first game and the Eagles have been together for a handful of practices but around the league there was always the thought that this year teams would figure out Vick. To some degree, that's what happened to Vick pre-dog fighting days. Vick remains one of the greatest offensive weapons in the history of the sport but his firepower was limited because of a) his lack of preparation and laziness in terms of study b) teams put faster spies on Vick to shadow him and c) he didn't improve his accuracy.

Last season, Vick studied hard, Andy Reid made Vick hard to decipher, Vick was still extremely athletic and Vick was as accurate as he's ever been. It was the perfect storm of Vickness.

The thought in football was that it would be extremely difficult for that storm to be repeated this year.

Now, the Steelers are great. They're a Super Bowl team. They do that to quarterbacks all the time but Vick looked, well, decoded. What some coaches have been saying since the end of last season -- that teams would slow Vick this year -- looked realistic.

So, no, it's not time to panic.

Mild concern?

Kenny Britt: Likely no decision on his punishment on Friday or over the weekend but it's probable there will be some form of discipline. Which opens up another Pandora's box -- that term has been used a lot lately with the NFL -- in terms of punishing a player while he was locked out.

Packers: I wanted to end with this quote from a GM: "The Packers have the best chance to repeat of any defending champion in recent memory." Totally agree. The team won a Super Bowl with a banged up roster. Imagine what this team can do with a healthy one?

Best chance to repeat in recent history? New England have done it and in this century and that is recent unless you are less than 20 years old.

Preseason is so pointless.  Vick dismantled the Ravens in one series the first preseason game and this time the Steelers dismantled the Eagles.  The Steelers however are far more concerned with the Ravens, and the Eagles probably don't care about either team this season.

Haters are gonna hate. These people on here talking smack are all haters. You can't do anything about haters. We will see what happens when the season starts. Until there is an actual game occuring and it matters, then it doesn't matter you noobs. Yes, there are things the Eagles can work on. They were just short of the SB last year with Vick. You can game plan all you want but when Vick starts to put the moves on look out. We will see what happens when the real season starts. Let me think, delayed start to trainging camp, minimal time with new players, duh you noobs, some people might be a little rusty. Like I said, haters are gonna hate.

The Eagles looked dreadful whether it was preseason or not. They wanted to move forward and this game was a big step backward. They are not yet as good as a veteran team such as the Steelers.

The Eagles have a long way to go before they are as good as such a veteran team as the Steelers. This rout should be a wakeup call for them. They looked dreadful.

The were dominated by the first team offense and defense on Thursday night in a 24-14 loss. The "Dream Team" certainly didn't look like a dream team as QB threw three interceptions and the Steelers offense moved up and down the field for two scores against the Eagles first team defense.

In short, the Eagles played very poorly. Eagles' Todd Herremens had perhaps the best description of Thursday night's game:

"Obviously we weren't ready to play." said , "We went out there and they kicked our a**."

It is only pre-season. This may have been the best thing that could of happened to the Eagles. It is now ever so obvious what they need work on. A little slap in the face to the superstars before the season gets under way by your in-state rival should, or better, provide some motivation in not introspection.

I do believe that defenses will be up to speed against Micheal Vick this season. It will be awefully hard for him to "surprise" anyone this season. His accuracy will define his season.

Time to panic.  Where is the leadership on the team?  Vick is a good leader on the field, but he's no locker room leader.  Philadelphia looks like a disjointed collection of talented parts with no cohesiveness.  In other words, they don't act like a team.  And when you've got numerous players in the mold of Asante Samuel in the locker room, it's a cancer that's hard to overcome over the long haul of an NFL season.  Good team this season.  Not a great team.

Everyone saw this starting to occur last season.  This wouldn't come as any form of "surprise" if the mass media in general weren't slobbering over everything Vick does.

I think they started to figure him out late last season. Disguise your blitzes and he is in trouble.
