Is Tebow now untradeable?

The consensus in speaking with a handful of team personnel executives when it comes to one Tim Tebow is this: A trade could happen, but it's becoming increasingly likely the Broncos will keep or cut Tebow because the trade interest is dwindling rapidly.

The executives portray the Tebow situation as a complicated one. They believe that while the Broncos are not openly trying to trade Tebow, they say that when teams have recently inquired about him, the Broncos haven't been saying he's off the trading block, either.

Again, just to be clear, the Broncos aren't openly shopping Tebow but teams that have asked were told: Make us an offer we can't refuse.

The Broncos might deny this, but based on their recent actions, it seems they're realizing Tebow might not be a bona fide NFL thrower. Tebow was the third quarterback in Denver's last game. It might not stay that way, and there is a solid chance Tebow simply stays in Denver and learns and the franchise keeps him around.

But do you put a guy you like in that kind of embarrassing situation? Probably not.

The are two big problems for the Broncos and Tebow. First, there's the belief that the Broncos might even cut Tebow (I don't see that), so why would a team trade for him?

Second, some in football think Tebow might need to be switched to another position. One team executive says he believes Tebow would be a Pro Bowl fullback, a belief I've heard several times from others around the sport.

It's a complicated matter with no easy solution for the Broncos or Tebow. In a few weeks, or even less, we'll know his future for sure.

Is Tebow now untradeable?

Adgmod3, your numbers are a bit skewed. Tebow was lined up in the Wildcard formation multiple times during the year before he was the starting QB. So your numbers aren't quite accurate when you project his numbers over a season. That being said I completely agree with your post, outside of the MVP comment. I think Tebow proved he could make an impact at the NFL level. He suprised people with his passing skills and his ability to run. I was one of the biggest anti-Tebow people there were, and I still am (I think Tebow is a smug prick). Regardless of my personal feelings about the guy, I think he deserves a shot to play QB. He hasn't shown anything other than being pretty damn good. Why does that warrant being relegated to 3rd team? He doesn't deserve that. I know a couple of teams who would probably kill to have Tebow: Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills to name a few. No way Tebow isn't as good as Tavaris Jackson or Fitzpatrick. I do think Orton is the better QB in Denver (in fact Orton is a hell of a lot better than anyone seems to want to realize- Orton has enough talent to be a top 10 QB in this league). Thus, I think Denver's best bet is to trade Orton to the Seahawks/Bills and try to get some value before the league begins to view tebow as a 3rd stringer.

Is Tebow now untradeable?

I guess nobody remembers the whole Favre and Rodgers show a few years back...  Maybe Orton will play at a high level until Tebow's ready.  I would also assume (safely, I think) that everyone's forgetting that Brady Quinn will never amount to anything in this league.  Again, you numbskulls forget they have a new coach, and wanna evaluate each QB in a live game situation.  The only thing we can say is that:  1)  John Elway isn't God, and 2) Orton is the unquestioned starter for 2011; the reason being is they switched Tebow and Quinn to give Quinn some quality preseason snaps under center.  Quinn was Quinn in the end.  For everything he does right, he does something equally wrong, 5 YEARS AFTER BEING DRAFTED BY THE BROWNS!  Denver fans can't say ANYTHING about any other fanbase in the league.  "I don't like Tebow, they should trade him."  What more do ya want? He had 5 TDs passing and 6 rushing!  Over a season, that's 3,270 yards passing, 25 passing TD's, 15 INT's, 30 sacks, 6 fumbles, 1,135 rushing yards, and 30 rushing TD's!  Those are University of Florida numbers, Michael Vick numbers, and most importantly...MVP NUMBERS!!

Is Tebow now untradeable?

Who on earth would actually trade anything for Tebow?  Someone mentioned a couple of mid round picks??  How absurd.  6th rounder at best.  Tebow is not an NFL quarterback and never will be.  He is a skilled "athlete" who probably could play at fullback or tight end.  He could probably find a place on special teams as well.  Elway simply wants to get rid of this dead weight at quarterback and doesn't want to be the guy who tries to make him learn another position.  As far as Freeman coming to some kind of consensus from talking to Denver management..........they probably take turns picking up the phone in Denver and making up some kind of crap knowing the writer will write jibberish anyway!

Gator Bait 08...really...Little Timmy "battered" LSUs defense...really??? I couls care less about Timmy Tea Pot, I am just telling it like it is. I have berated JJ and Jamarcus Russell because they suck....it's not hard...you can do it...say it...TT is NO NFL QB!!!!  Besides, I have been a football fan much longer than you have been a drop-out at FU...or is it UF? The problem with you Gay-terd fans is you are use to him having his over-sized ego and back side stroked and ALL you fools believed he would be an NFL QB. Anybody outside of Lames-ville knew that was not the case except Fat Man Lundquist and Sorry Danielson. So geaux back to your fantasy world when Suburban and the Felons ruled the SEC because Saban is back and the REAL Tigers ain't going NOWHERE!!! Prepare for some more butt pain in Red Stick...boy.

Is Tebow now untradeable?

I think the Broncos would be idiots to trade Tebow. What they're doing is BRILLIANT- RE: ORTON because he's being protrayed as the number 1 and he's performing great in the preseason. They should go on with tiheir origianl plan to trade Orton- whose value is increasing - once there is a major qb issue.   The Bills should trade for Orton.  Their top 2 sucks!  OR Washington.  If they trade Tebow, I'm sure the Colts would be interested - because they're qbs suck too-- except for that starter guy -  whasshismane- who is still hurt.

Is Tebow now untradeable?

Now??? Why would you think Broncos Tim Tebow untradeable because he is in only his 2nd year as a QB? He's obviously a work in progress. How can you make statements like these. You don't really know his value at all. He hasn't started too many games, but I do know he's a good kid and he works hard, and that's good enough for me for now...Kyle Orton is the obvious starter, but I am sure Tebow will start some day and they will find a way to use his talents.

Is Tebow now untradeable?

the Broncos will suck as long as Elway's in charge.
In that case.....I wish Elway many, many happy.....er....unhappy years in the Broncos organization.

Is Tebow now untradeable?

Why is this guy paid to write this stuff?  Means nothing.  Are we seriously to believe the Broncos drafted Tebow in the first round a year ago, watched genuine promise in him, and are now about to cut him?

Elway is the Problem!!

I'm not a Tebow fan, never was.  But from what I've seen, and it hasn't been that much, he hasn't done nearly as bad as some of the 2d year QB's on other teams.  Seems like the problem is John Elway.  I never really liked Elway.  He was a d*ck when he played and never was good enough in his prime to win the Super Bowl; he only won at the end of his career when Denver ran the ball more with Terrell Davis.  My suspicion is that Elway has the same problem as Michael Jordan.  Great player, though Elway in the NFL doesn't compare to Jordan in the NBA, but too competitive for their own good and horrible talent evaluators.  Jordan is just the worst NBA owner.  He flat out can't run a team and doesn't have a clue on how to manage a salary cap.  Elway I think will be the same way.  He thinks he knows everything and he clearly does not.  I'm sorry but Brady Quinn has had more time and opportunity to prove himself and he has not.  Tebow is younger and willing to learn.  Elway just can't handle that Tebow is a more popular Bronco right now than he is.  It's Elway's ego that is the problem here and not Tebow.  Remember, Elway wanted to dump Kyle Orton because he not a down the field thrower like Elway.  Elway needs to suck it up and learn how to lead a team because he sure as hell can't play any longer. I doubt he will and the Broncos will suck as long as Elway's in charge.  Just my opinion . . . .
