Is Tebow now untradeable?

The consensus in speaking with a handful of team personnel executives when it comes to one Tim Tebow is this: A trade could happen, but it's becoming increasingly likely the Broncos will keep or cut Tebow because the trade interest is dwindling rapidly.

The executives portray the Tebow situation as a complicated one. They believe that while the Broncos are not openly trying to trade Tebow, they say that when teams have recently inquired about him, the Broncos haven't been saying he's off the trading block, either.

Again, just to be clear, the Broncos aren't openly shopping Tebow but teams that have asked were told: Make us an offer we can't refuse.

The Broncos might deny this, but based on their recent actions, it seems they're realizing Tebow might not be a bona fide NFL thrower. Tebow was the third quarterback in Denver's last game. It might not stay that way, and there is a solid chance Tebow simply stays in Denver and learns and the franchise keeps him around.

But do you put a guy you like in that kind of embarrassing situation? Probably not.

The are two big problems for the Broncos and Tebow. First, there's the belief that the Broncos might even cut Tebow (I don't see that), so why would a team trade for him?

Second, some in football think Tebow might need to be switched to another position. One team executive says he believes Tebow would be a Pro Bowl fullback, a belief I've heard several times from others around the sport.

It's a complicated matter with no easy solution for the Broncos or Tebow. In a few weeks, or even less, we'll know his future for sure.

Is Tebow now untradeable?

Look at it this way Denver fans....  You have the most underrated QB in the NFL with Orton and you should be happy to have the problems at QB that you do.

Most Broncos fans are too emotionally invested in one QB or another to see such simple common sense. Last off season 360+ NFL players were asked to choose the most overrated players and the most underrated players. Orton came in 1st place as the most underrated player. So apparently NFL players think he's pretty good.

How did freeman come up with the conclusion that Tebow would be cut?  Orton and Quinn are free agents after this season.  Broncos won't have a QB with experience in the offense next year if Tebow is moved.  Tebow still has value in redzone and short yardage packages.  He may not be ready to start at QB, but can still make valuable contributions to the team.

The Broncos screwed this up by placing Orton on the block.  Orton is clearly the best QB in Denver, but when you put him on the block, it told Tebow that he was the guy.  We saw in college and last year what Tebow is.  He is a fan favorite because he has a huge heart for the game, but he is not the most talented player in the world.  in the NFL, QB's need to be able to hit WR's in very small windows and make decisions in a split second.  Playing the game outside of the pocket is part of it, but not the whole game.  Tebow can not just take the ball and run over guys like he could at Florida.  This game is much bigger and quicker and if he does not have all the tools necessary, then he is not a difference maker.  When you draft a QB in the first round, fans expect them to be a difference maker.  Look at it this way Denver fans....  You have the most underrated QB in the NFL with Orton and you should be happy to have the problems at QB that you do.

Blueup and MRWormtown,

You guys are both idiots. Elway was not aked about all the Tebow jerseys. The announcer pointed out that there seemed to be a equal number of #15 and #7 jerseys...Elway laughed and said, "It's nice to know I still get some love in Denver."

So in addition to being idiots you're also liars.

OK, now I am convinced! Freeman is on drupgs or hitting tge bottle!

The Broncos would never cut Tebow and would only part ways for a second round draft pick in return.

I don;t see any team taking that offer but I do see Tebow starting for hte Broncols before the season is over and being very successful again.

I'm a fan of Tebow in general, but he's really not showing the ability to make the throws he needs to make and to read coverages quickly.  All this talk about Elway's ego is nonsense.  Of course Elway has a big ego, but that's got nothing to do with Tebow.  Elway just wants to win.  Tebow doesn't give the Broncos the best chance to do that, at least as a starter.

Orton is as good a QB as you could want in most situations.  He makes good reads, accurate throws and protects the ball.  He struggles in the red zone though, which does have a lot to do with our poor running game.

I thought that the wildcat or "wild horses" formation with Tebow in the backfield was extremely effective in the red zone under McD (one of the few things that was effective under him).  I don't see why they can't just keep that going.  Tebow only had to make quick decisions, and his size, strength and athletic ability were devastating weapons.  Defenses really had no answer for that in the short part of the field.  He could run a draw up the middle, or bootleg out wide, where he could then run it or lob it in.

The Broncos would be foolish to abandon that effective offensive set and Tebow's ability to execute it to perfection.

jmf02f,

Read much? Clearly not! I said Orton & Fox are not winners. I didn't say anything about Elway not being a winner. The "f" in your handle must stand for Freeman...

Jacksonville!

Trade Tebow to jacksonville, his hometown.  Tebow can be the 3rd team QB and they can cut garrard nex year when Gabbert gets some reps.
