New deal for Polamalu

Posted on: September 10, 2011 2:42 pm

Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu has signed a new four-year deal, I've confirmed, and with all of the new contracts and extensions signed post-lockout, Polamalu's is one of the most well-earned.

A source with knowledge of the deal said the contract makes Polamalu one of the highest paid defensive players in the league but what this deal represents more than anything is a reward for one of the hardest working and most vicious players the sport has seen. Sure, there are those who believe he's overrated (I'm looking at you Pete Prisco) but he's not.

He's the 21st century Ronnie Lott. That makes him special and this contract is well deserved.

Now, speaking of well deserved, all we need to have is Drew Brees get his deal done.

New deal for Polamalu

Wrong. Timmons, Woodley, Heyward, and Hood are young, up and coming and very good. There's a mix of old and new, which is what you have to have. Don't forget Worilds at LB, too. He's the next in line to terrorize QBs. And sign offensive talent????? The Steelers are young and loaded on offense.

Yeah, Prisco always points to last year's playoffs and criticizes Troy, BUT THAT's DUMB! He had an injured achilles. You can't judge a player when he's fighting through a tough injury.

they have addresed the issues of their older players on the defense.it is called the draft.their young offense is going to be ausome .they are going to work in their younger players with the veterans.you seem like a dallass fan.the steelers know how to draft, they have great coaching that is the reason they will be there at the end.

New deal for Polamalu

Troy's so happy about his new contract he forgets how to play and the Ravens beat the Steelers today b/c of that!!! J/K, but go Ravens, you better beat this team after last year's loss in the playoffs...Flacco better not puss up in the 4th quarter

New deal for Polamalu

This is one of the most "game changing" player there is.  Didn't show up in last years super bowl, but what a better player to have on your team I'd be hard pressed to find.  Nice job Pittsburgh!

New deal for Polamalu

This deal is good for only Troy. Thats because this Steelers defense is getting old, face it Troy is thirty and has had the injury bug for the last few years. What this contract is ,is Troy is geting paid now for his previous great play. Just as his defensive mvp award that he recieved last year that should have gone to Clay mathews. Now the Steelers have a truck load of money now locked up in some quite old players and no room to sign any good offensive talent. So now in the next 2 years or less they will be kicking themselfs in the butt trying to figure out why they paid these guys so much for their play in the past and will get little great play here in the future from these old hasbeens.

New deal for Polamalu

OK, first of all, let me leave this clear: I am maybe the biggest Steelers fan in Mexico and I absolutely love how Polamalu plays, but I just can´t stand that people keep saying how a great hitter he is, because he simply isn´t a great hitter, not even a good one. The beauty of his tackling is his technique, which is almost flawless, but a killer he isn´t. I think that it is time for all of you guys to start recognizing the real hammer in the Steelers secondary, and his name is RYAN CLARK!!
