New deal for Polamalu

Posted on: September 10, 2011 2:42 pm

Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu has signed a new four-year deal, I've confirmed, and with all of the new contracts and extensions signed post-lockout, Polamalu's is one of the most well-earned.

A source with knowledge of the deal said the contract makes Polamalu one of the highest paid defensive players in the league but what this deal represents more than anything is a reward for one of the hardest working and most vicious players the sport has seen. Sure, there are those who believe he's overrated (I'm looking at you Pete Prisco) but he's not.

He's the 21st century Ronnie Lott. That makes him special and this contract is well deserved.

Now, speaking of well deserved, all we need to have is Drew Brees get his deal done.

New deal for Polamalu

Troy Pa is the real deal: A high octane gladiator on the field and a complete gentleman off the field.  He is the Derek Jeter of Football. With the amount of talent he has he could be spewing at the mouth like some of the wideouts today, but instead, he knocks their blocks off and goes about the the next play as if he needs to do even better.  This guy shows that he truely loves the game and it is evident by way he plays.  How many interviews or press conferences did he hold to discuss his contract? I don't think I heard a peep other than the media attempting to make something out of his new impending contract.

He is Bad A** and full of class.  The kind that you would see playing in the 1960's

Polamalu is the best defensive player in the NFL over the last number of years, he deserves it.

New deal for Polamalu

This was not an unexpected outcome but once again the Steelers showed how a classy organization handles it.  While the team prepares to open the season the front office sat down with Troy's agent and got a deal done for him to sign before the season begins.  The Steelers always take good of great players that are good citizens and role models.

New deal for Polamalu

Mr. Head and Shoulders deserved a new deal. He has a knack for making the big play but mostly the defensive sceme makes it that way. He's allowed to run around and play undisclipned. Not knocking it because it definately works for the Steelers. But........ can't stand the team. They play dirty and have alot of character issues with the players. They play in an easy division. Just them and Baltimore so you basically are given 4 games a year. You're bound to make it to the playoffs alot with that setup. Sorry it's true. They better start getting younger soon or they are going to hit the wall. Might begin to happen this year but for sure next year. I'd be worried that they are given long term contracts to aging players.

New deal for Polamalu

When Troy Polamalu is healthy he's one of the best out there but he has been so injury prone the last few years that I worry about this kind of commitment. 2008 has been his only full season in the last four years. He is 30 so that's getting up there and with his history I'm not an optimist. I hope he plays great and healthy because I love the Steelers but I just don't know.
