Two Steelers fined by league

It's no secret the Pittsburgh Steelers despise the league office and believe Commissioner Roger Goodell specifically targets them. It's also no secret -- though perhaps more of one -- that the league office isn't crazy about some of the Steelers. (The league will deny this vehemently but it's accurate.)

Two Steelers have been fined by the NFL: Troy Polamalu $15,000 for a horse collar tackle and Ike Taylor $15,000 for a head butt. (Nice one, Ike.) Ravens player Brendon Ayanbadejo was also fined for a horse collar tackle. He'll be $15,000 lighter in the wallet as well.

It's only fitting that it took just one game for the NFL to fine the Steelers. Now, the Steelers deserved the fines but this will only further their persecution complex.

Cue the Steelers saying the NFL targets only them in three, two, one...

The players would be fine with killing each other on the field.  No player is going to admit he is too soft to play.  By saying that they would want an opponent to be fined for a hit would be admitting weakness.  Players all bitch about fines and the game getting soft, this way we as fans still think of players being tough and blame the league for the changes.  It's all about how we as fans view the players.  They don't want to get hurt either, but they will be the last ones to admit that someone else is capable of hurting them.

The penalties AND fines are way out of hand.

I am all for a safer environment for the players,  but why not let the players representation come up with how to make it safer? The people who have never played in the league are the one's implementing rules and doling out fines, yet those that have a voice and HAVE played in the league are not involved in the making or implementation of the rules governing player safety. Let's get it straight and get the players union more involved in what makes up player safety.

If you continue to hit defensice player with fine, you will only see more bad tackling. In week one the tackling look too often like a pro bowl game. I also dont understand why there no topic on nfl.com about how the pass defense is broken. They are only trying to sell there overbosted passing numbers.

Well I have not heard any Steelers reactions to this other than they were guilty, so I guess you were wrong.

Oh please.  Anytime anyone wants to whine about officiating, it means that the game was so close, one team or the other had the fortune to win.  Score enough points OR keep the other team from scoring and you won't have to whine about the officials, period.  As for what happens to Roethlisberger every game, the Steelers had better fix their offensive line or else he's going to continue to get hammered.  I would agree that when he gets protection, he is deadly.  But he can't be expected to do his own blocking, and Hines Ward would be a great offensive lineman, but he can't block and catch at the same time.

really tired of that remark. steelers were the better team.the whole playloffs they got some very questiohable calls.seemed like the nfl did not want the steelers to win.they did get their share in the super bowl but the seahawks were not perfect.steelers have had many games they should have won .but this the nfl anything can happen.steelers could have lost but they beat three teams better than the seahawks.there were some bad calls the other way also every game is like that/who s your team.you sound like a dallass fan.
