Tony Romo the fighter

Never again should anyone question Tony Romo's heart. Or his will. Or his mental toughness. I have in the past and it was well deserved as Romo earned a reputation as one of the classic chokers in NFL history. But not anymore.

To me, we need to wipe most of that out after Romo played with a serious injury in leading a comeback win against San Francisco. I've verified other reports -- leaked by the Cowboys -- that Romo played with a punctured lung. A Cowboys team official said what Romo did was one of the gutisiest things he's ever seen.

The official added Romo had one fractured rib (other reports have said two) and that Romo took pain killing medication (but not a pain killing shot there's a difference). There are different versions of that aspect and we may not know exactly until Romo speaks up about what exactly happened.

Romo, in one fell swoop, has changed his image from a pretty boy choker who dated models and singers to a tough guy. It's well earned. Already, I'm told, Cowboys players are viewing Romo in an entirely new light. They always liked him and never thought of him the way some fans and media did but they're even more impressed now.

I'll never question Romo's mental toughness again. Neither should anyone else.

I'm just waiting for him to get into stride with his team. It might be the other way around... Romo and team that is... with getting in stride besides. Foolio.

It's really too bad that these players are held to these wacky standards.  They guy has put up phenomenal stats his entire, although still short, career.  Because he is the QB of thew Dallas Cowboys, he can be villified one week and a hero the next.  I guess that comes with the territory for an NFL QB, but seriously, i don't think there has ever been a real reason to call this guy a choker.  PLease don't give me the crap about the botched hold for the playoff field goal either, as you don't see too amny starting QB's also holding long snaps for important kicks.

This guys is nails and always has been.

I think it is odd that everyone lauds a player for playing hurt, but condemns him if he doesn't.  I do not believe that Romo should be praised for playing with his injuries.  These are medical and personal decisions.  I am no Romo fan, but I am upset if he went back in to play just to show his toughness.  I sincerely hope he did not do further harm.  If he was hit again after his injuries, he might well have done further harm. and then we would all be blaming the Cowboys for allowing that to happen.

Well put Freeman.  That's a very stand up thing to do in admitting Romo is not the person you thought he was...  You have earned my respect and not just because I'm a Cowboy fan either.

I thought it was funny last week how Freeman BLAMED Romo for the lost, I even had to comment on it then , and yesterday before this article was written . Anybody that watched that game seen Romo what so every QB does.
But this game, not many QB would do what he did
