I wrote after the Jets-Patriots game, after Derrick Mason was basically benched, the Jets would either keep benching Mason or cut him altogether. I didn't mention the other option: a trade.

I've confirmed a Houston Chronicle report that Mason was traded from the Jets to Houston. I've been told it's a low round pick. The newspaper reported it was a conditional pick.

This move has some interesting ramifications:

1. Is Andre Johnson's hamstring healing slower than expected? Or are the Texans simply looking for more depth? Maybe it's a combination of the two.

2. Rex Ryan is making a statement to his team. And I don't care if he says publicly Mason was benched to get other players reps. No way. Mason was sent packing because he publicly complained about the offense.

3. Mason is actually in a better place. He goes to an offense light years ahead of New York's.

4. Mason may have failed with the Jets but I get the feeling he'll do pretty well with the Texans.

Look on the bright side Derrick , now you get to go back to Baltimore again this week to yuck it up with your teammates and laugh after a loss while your fans are the ones pissed off.

Doesnt matter though right? After all you did come to the Jets to "win" didnt you?

I bet Vick and Asomugha also wish they were traded by the Jets. Oh wait...wrong dysfunctional team. :)

Mason was never rite for the jets anyway the jets have a QB who is gets paranoid in the pocket and scared to throw (hint) the ravens game for example he will do so much better in a offense with a better QB and better offense like the texans and get away from a offense that has lost its identity and is finding out alot about a struggling Qb like the jets

Anyone watch A Football Life on NFL Network? It was hysterical when Belichick told him to shut the F up and look at the scoreboard when he tried to talk trash while the Ravens were losing. Good riddance to an old WR. I guess Rex was a little off with that 80-90 receptions prediction for Mason this year.

Good move. Ryan needed to show everyone that he is still the boss.

" I've heard that he and Flacco almost came to blows or did."

There was a game, I could not tell you which one, that they were certainly in each others face.  I dont remember it comming to blows but it got close, someone could probably correct me if I'm wrong.  Certainly the personality of Mason and Flacco clash, one is quite, the other loud.  Sanchez is quiet, at least from what I have seen???
