It doesn't change the fact though that I will still root for Suh and the Lions.  I just won't be wearing the jersey anymore. 

I obviously don't know you personally,  not at all.  But as passionate as you appear to be about this topic, the Lions, Suh, etc   i'm willing to bet you'll be wearing that jersey sooner then later..... just a hunch.

Taunting a downed player is no different than kicking at his feet (which is what the one player said)  Both are disgusting acts.  The fact you call it "trash talk" and follow it up by saying "words mean absolutely nothing" in your last paragraph tells me you are clueless, as well as your statement "TAUNTING IN THE NFL is as common as a false start"

This isn't about whether it's right or wrong because on the surface yeah, of course it's wrong.  If you would actually be a little open minded and read between the lines a little bit you might understand what i'm saying, but since you don't I'll explain myself and be as clear as possible in doing so.  Suh is not just ANY player or ANY d-lineman in the NFL.... He's a target every single week, and not just a target like any other player, there is a special target on his back.  He's double teamed all day long, 5 to 600 pounds of animal pounding on him to keep him away from their qb.  At least 2 o-linmen talking crap to him all day long...  it's a close, hard fought game and a qb gets hurt.  IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT PEOPLE SAY THINGS THEY DON'T REALLY MEAN .........  

You are obviously the type of person that takes EVERYTHING anybody says to heart, no second or third chances for you. Once somebody says the wrong thing, you write them off.  And that's ok.... but that's not ME.....  

Have you ever heard Suh speak off the field? Ever seen him in an interview?  The guy is awesome... well spoken, intelligent, great personality and a sense of humour, appears to be a great guy.  A great family man from everything i've ever read going all the way back to Nebraska,,,,,, takes care of his entire family off the field, anybody that needs him financially or otherwise.  Donated millions to nebraska and others instantly upon being drafted, committed the money before he even got his first check.

THAT is why i stick up for the guy..... and before you ask me why if it's wrong he hasn't apologized in the last couple days, I'll answer that for you because he answered that in an interview before this incident.  He says when he's on the field he is what he is... it's not who he is off the field.  In the heat of the moment and in the heat of battle he let's it all hang out... leaves it all on the field.  If he apologizes, what does it do? Nobody will believe him.... NOBODY... they'll say it's a p.r move, blablabla     So why bother?  He LOVES the fact others find him intimidating and hate him... it's what inspires him and how he's become what he's become....

But you have the option to hang up that jersey and you've already done that.  In your mind all it takes is ONE time and you write people off.  I followed Suh's career very closely in college and of course pro, he's never been accused of something like this before... so yeah, i'm gonna give him a mulligan..... you?  I could care less.....

Now that you mention kids, let me tell you something.  I have not one, but TWO boys in my life.  One is 11 and one is 13.  Would you like to know what I taught them from a very young age?  I taught them if they lie to me about something, almost anything and everything they say about that topic or incident after that becomes useless to me.   The Falcons player CLEARLY lied about Avril kicking at Ryan.  Had that been the truth, I wouldn't be on this thread defending Avril because kicking at a man that is down is disgusting.... 

But talking trash?  I highly doubt Suh ( if he did in fact say those things) is the first NFL player to talk trash and I'm pretty sure he won't be the last.  Is it right? Absolutely not.... but a lot of things in the NFL aren't right.  I listened to Suh's interview last week on 97.1 and they asked him what's the worst or most violent thing he's seen on the football field.  He paused and said he never likes being at the bottom of a pile because he's seen players try to break other player's fingers under there..... THAT is dirty.... KICKING is dirty.... but for you to come here and judge my parenting based on my belief that TAUNTING IN THE NFL is as common as a false start makes you the idiot, not me.

I'm going to try and make this as simple as possible for you -- I hope you can grasp this.  TAUNTING during the game is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than TAUNTING an injured player.  If taunting an injured player was as common as a false start -- explain to me why this is major news today?!?!?!  Now you tell me who the idiot is???

Here is another question for you -- say your 13 year old was playing football and was on the ground grabbing his knee injured.  Are you saying if a player from the other team started taunting him and yelling to get him off the field and get the golf cart, you'd just chalk it up to boys will be boys.  this is football and that is part of the game.  or another scenario -- if it was your son taunting an injured player -- would you just chalk it up to football being an emotional game and sometimes you say things you don't mean.

First of all -- I'm a die hard Lions fan and I am not jumping on any "haters bandwagon".  I simply stated, if Suh actually said the things MULTIPLE falcons player have said he did, I lost alot of respect for him.

As far as the kicking allegations -- I had already watched the game live, so I knew there was nothing to that comment.  If it would have been a single player on the Falcons saying Avril and Suh were making the comments, I would have disregarded it until I heard otherwise -- multiple Falcons have made the exact same comments about it.  What do they have to gain from making up something like that?  They have already played Detroit.

Also -- As I stated earlier -- football is a violent GAME.  yelling, screaming, pushing, shoving etc. after the whistle is common place and expected.  When a player goes down though -- especially one who goes down and immediately grabs his knee, as Ryan did, there is no excuse what so ever to mocking the situation.  I've talked up Suh all over these boards and defended his playing style all over these threads, but it'd make no sense for a falcon player to make up something like that, let alone multiple players.

I think the fact we haven't heard a response from Suh regarding the allegations speaks volumes.  I've looked all over the internet to see what he had to say regarding it and there is nothing as of yet.  If this was something outlandish lie told by the Falcons -- Suh would have responded immediately to squash the rumors.

it is quite obvious you have NEVER played the game of football.  from pop warner all the way thru college -- players are taught to be respectful when a player is injured on the field.  at the end of the day -- whether is a little kid or a NFL player it is just a GAME.  i don't care if you are the greatest football player to ever step on the field -- if you mock an injured player, you are going to lose the respect of many REAL football fans.

the only intelligent statement in your entire response was "football is a violent GAME".  Once you get to the NFL, it is their livelihood and these players have families.  Louis Delmas showed you exactly HOW a player should react to an opposing player being injured.  Delmas blew the guys knee out with a solid tackle -- He immediately put his hands to his head and started calling the medical staff.  If this was someone from Atlanta who had done this to Stafford -- you would be on here outraged.  I have never said a word about Suh's talent or said he should change the way he plays.  Mocking a downed player DOES NOT change how a player plays the game.

By the way,  it has been PROVEN the Atlanta player is lying and Avril didn't kick Ryan's feet at all.  The fact Atlanta players lied about that pretty well discredits everything they say unless Lions players admit they did something wrong.   As for Suh, let's wait and see what happens and what he says because the cameras didn't catch Suh and his accuser even close to each other, let alone close enough where somebody could hear what Suh was saying. 

Suh really needs to keep his emotions in check -- I have a Suh Jersey I wear for games, but I think I will be hanging that one up for a while.

off the field, Suh is the consumate professional.  From local charities to visiting kids in the hospital to just recently purchasing new football equipment for a local Detroit high school team who had their equipment stolen.  He has been great for the community. 

That's all that matters.  The guy is a MONSTER of an NFL football player, the best defensive tackle in football.  And off the field the guy is a pussycat that donates big money to great causes, takes time out of his day for sick children and his fans, and does local interview after interview on his own time.   He's a great family man, just a great person overall.  

I don't care if he said mean words to another football player...... give me a break.
