Ravens win in Harbowl, 16-6

Posted on: November 24, 2011 11:21 pm

BALTIMORE -- When the game was over Jim and John Harbaugh gave each other a strong embrace. Jim, the loser, didn't look too happy his brother had won but the hug was still strong. It was finished. Harbowl 2011 was done and the Ravens were winners.

Interesting, yes. The first time two head coaching brothers ever met in a game but truth is that was a sideshow. The larger story was how the Ravens -- as they have done many times, to many different teams -- physically destroyed the San Francisco 49ers.

Baltimore's defense sacked quarterback Alex Smith nine times. That's nine damn times. It was incredible to watch. After a while, it became hard to watch.

What this game showed was that the 49ers are no threat to the Green Bay Packers. In fact, it's looking increasingly like no team is.

Harbowl is over but the questions for the 49ers are just beginning.

Ravens win in Harbowl, 16-6

This should have been called the "over-rated bowl" or the "pretender bowl",  Both teams and coaches are over-rated. Ravens get bounced early by the Pats or Steelers. Got so sick of seeing the sideline shots of "wild-eyed" Ray-Ray, enough with him already. Niners will get bounced in the first round. NFC West, hahaha! Next year the Cards win that divsion and get bounced in the first round. Jimmy "Hard-Paw" won't be slapping too many coaches on the back next year. Pete Carroll will slap him silly.

the brother thing was a nice story, but ENOUGH already!! typical TV overhype... it was a boring game between 2 overrated teams with terrible QB's who will be bounced early in the playoffs...move on!!!

So you just compared Green Bay's Defense to Baltimores Defense and then jump to an assumption that Green Bay now can beat the
49ers after the what Baltimore did?  (How stupid does that sound)
The haters come out, finally.  Did you really believe the 49ers would go 15-1?  I will tell you this, they are going to the playoffs and getting sacked nine times ain't going to happen again.

Demolish? A bit of an overstatement don't you think? GB's D is inconsistent, but it doesn't let teams score when it matters and leads the league in turnovers. And don't forget what Aaron Rodgers did to the league's best D last year in the Superbowl, should've had 2 more TDs than he had too. Rodgers also eats up pass rushing, he can fly out of the pocket and kill a secondary.

The Ravens won tonight because Alex Smith doesn't know how to handle a good blitzing team. Rodgers has dealt with some of the best D-lines in the league and a crappy O-line throughout his career, and obviously has excelled.

Yeah, good luck demolishing the Pack with the Raven's O.

(Oh, don't forget the Packers just limited Megatron to 49 yards and a junk TD, have limitied Adrian Peterson to 50 yards, and made a 7-3 team look like amateurs).

Freeman: Put the beer down. The Packers' strength is thier offense. Their defense is mediocre at best. As a Ravens fan, I am happy the 9ners had to travel instead of us. Jim will get the #2 seed and will show you that the Packers are not a "lock".

Why do writers write after they have been drinking?

No threat to the Packers?  An absolute ridiculous statement  The Ravens D was sick tonight. They were relentless. They completely destroyed anyone in a 49ers uniform. The 49ers are no threat to the Packers only if the Ravens D suits up for Green Bay. The Packs D blows worse than a $5.00 hooker. Good observation Freeman, you shouldn't have had that last drink before submitting this sh@t splatterd article.

I KNEW this kind of response would come. The 9ers lose a hard fought game for their 1st loss in the last 9 games, coming off 3 days rest travelling across the country and immediately it becomes "the questions for the 49ers are just beginning". Give me a break! They have to lose at some point! They weren't gonna go 15-1, so Baltimore makes perfect sense for a team to get the better of us on this particular day. Yes you would like them to be able to beat a strong team like this, but given the factors working against us, it was certainly not a shocking outcome. I also don't think this shows hardly anything in terms of Green Bay. The Ravens are a very physical hard-nose team. Our strength on offense is our run game, which the Ravens were able to stop. I have zero faith in Green Bay's ability to stop Gore after watching their run D the last few weeks. Green Bay and Baltimore are two entirely different teams so this really doesn't tell us much in terms of facing Green Bay.

"What this game showed was that the 49ers are no threat to the Green Bay . In fact, it's looking increasingly like no team is." Umm, dont you think that these Ravens might be a threat against the Green Bay Packers? They run over every good team they face and with GB's Defense, the Ravens should be able to demolish them.
