The Daily Shoutout: Union leader bonus

OPENING HIT: Does DeMaurice Smith deserve a $1 million dollar bonus? Um, hell yes.

The Washington Postfirst reported the NFLPA is mulling over the possible bonus and I’m told the story is accurate. Frankly, don’t see why there’s a debate.

Think about what Smith did. The players made out like bandits. They’re going to be splitting $9 billion in revenue, there are better health benefits, and most of all there is labor peace for a decade. Players have jobs, high paying jobs, for a long time. Yes, there was a lockout and yes, there still needs to be HGH testing, the way there is now in baseball (supposedly), but the end result was a deal and lots of cash for his membership.

You don’t think Roger Goodell is going to get some sort of extra money in his pocket for what was an equally solid job? Um, hell yes.

All Smith’s critics ever said about him was that he was headed to politics. He was using the union for some sort of mayoral/gubernatorial/Congressional
/Presidential run. That still may happen but so far it hasn’t. Smith has been nothing but a solid union leader.

Does Smith deserve a $1 million bonus?

Um, hell yes.

WHo gives a crap about race? One CAN NOT be a football fan and be a racist. How can you hate White/Black people then cheer for Brees/Peterson? It is stupid to think that way. The bridge between the races is smaller than ever so let's make it even smaller. Just ignore the people that think differently. They will go away in time. There will always be some racism not matter what we do, don't focus on that. Some of the best people I know are a different race than me and some of the worst I know are the same race as me. Skin color proves nothing. White/Black people both can be racist so just move along. If you don't want to know me because of my color? fine, no worries, I don't want to know you either. Growing up my favorite player was D. Green of the Redskins. I didn't care if he was black and I still wear his jersey around.

I still encounter some racists where I live, both white and black, which is sad.  But even racist people aren't upset or jealous by someone of a different color, like Smith compared to white people in this case, who is intelligent, well spoken, and hard working.  They would prefer if someone of their own race was in his place, but understand he deserves what he got.  All people, racist or not, are upset if someone like David Duke makes more money than them, white or black, because he is obviously and idiot.  No one likes it when someone who is underqualified makes more than them, and if they are racist will use racial slurs to express their anger.  I assume that most of us make more than David Duke does though.

What happened to both Goodell and Smith both working for one dollar, as they said they would if there was a lockout?  Oh, I see they made one dollar in 2011 but will get an extra million in 2012?

lets see, Ill play the race card. get over it .white people arent  even thinking in that manner. Most people , in this day and age have gotten over it. Its time for everyone to get over it, there are people of all races thinking in that backward manner, but most dont, until someone lights the fire.look im Native American and anything ive accoplished is from hard work, and im sure Mr. Smith will tell you the samething. Dont get me wrong, the predudice is out there, but not even close to what it was in the past. Am i jelous, yes of the money, but not race of the man recieving it. As long as the race card is played it will promote the type of thought you speak of. You can throw down all the barriers you want..,But I think we would be better served clearing a path as opposed to putting down barriers. I like to think the gridiron was one place where we are all the color of our uniforms. wake-up.. lets clear a path, we can all love god why cant we learn to love each other PEACE...GO CHARGERS !!!
