Harrison likely fined, not suspended

Multiple NFL sources say Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison will likely receive a hefty fine but not be suspended.

This could always change -- these things are never set in stone -- but there are strong indications from a variety of sources that Harrison is due for a fine that could be extremely significant, I'm told. Considering Harrison's history it would not be shocking if the fine approached six figures.

Harrison's hit on Cleveland quarterback Colt McCoy was crown to crown, but McCoy lowering his head beforehand helps Harrison's case, I'm told. But with Harrison's history, and the fact he struck McCoy with crown of his helmet, will lead to a significant fine.

We should be worried about them all.  Harrison has a history.  Had plenty of time to pull up or off McCoy but made another dumbass decision to try and kill him.  Nobody or any amount of fines has got through to this guy.  Time for a suspension period.  With a suspension maybe some of the Steelers players will get on him for his actions and maybe that gets through his numbskull.  And intent please this guy is always at the scene of the crime.  Nothing wrong with a good hard clean hit but Harrison is a uncontrollable mad dog that needs to be put down permanantly or for the rest of the season.  The act, his excuses and flagrant disregard for the Authority of the Commissioners office is totally uacceptable.  Maybe a career in MMA or UFC is more suited to his talents.  I'd love to see Brock Lesner break Harrisons leg off and then proceed to beat him to death with it.  Harrison if he is allowed to continue playing is setting himself up for a bone crunching blind side because of the rep he's built.  Cleveland players and all the other cheap shots he's taken on other players don't forget.  I hope Harrison's head is on a swivel because somebody is going to bust him wide open and he can expect it when he least expects it.

All of you folks are only crying about the hit because Czar Goodell has forced you to.  It's still football and the players get paid a ton of money to play a brutal sport for a short career.  I agree with a previous poster, the players aren't complaining or crying about the hit so why should you?  It's because sports radio folks and repeated replays on TV have nothing better to do.

I agree that the hit was helmet to helmet and will warrant a fine because Goofdell says so but please stop with the suspension talk.

"What?  So, the lies and spinning have begun. THAT is not the "fact" at all.  The video clearly shows that McCoy never lowered his helmet.  Harrison struck him with the crown of his helmet right on the chin, after propelling his own body upwards like a boxer's uppercut. He was clearly trying to hurt McCoy and not just trying to tackle him. Harrison, with his history, should be suspended for the rest of the season.  And, if he does this one more time next year, he should be banned for life. A fine is not going to stop this from happening. Harrison's been fined before."

VERY well put !!    To the supporters of young Mr. Harrison, I wish you all the best - regardless the color of the sky in your world - you need it.

My friend(s) - simply watch the replay and it does not take a genius IQ to see, SEE, that James had no intention whatsoever to tackle the player in any way, shape or form BUT with the crown of his ( James' ) head AND to do so in Colt's chest !!    Otherwise, he would have had his SHOULDER pads aimed at Colt's chest !!

Regardless, there has been a break-down in coaching somewhere along the way and I almost feel sorry for young Mr. Harrison.    Oh wait, it was not the coach(es) who made the ( attempted ) "tackle".  &nbs
p; I also remain by my earlier comment about being a parent, I would be livid to the extent that a bona-fide suspension is in order to prevent OTHERS from suffereing similar damage as Colt.

AND, rather than have James ( in this case ), the NFL should require those ( including Suh ) attend fundamental Coaching !!!

Let's see how far the "you've never played football" argument goes after you take a blind spear to the head from an NFL LB. Guess what, you've never played NFL football either. Any other level ain't even close, so stop acting like you're part of some brotherhood because you were a backup at Nobody Cares High School.

Dude I'm sure they do.  Your mug shot is probably posted everywhere.  If you're going to blog try and say something that is meaningful.  Your Steeler yellow stripe is all too obvious.  I will definitely look you up when I come to town tough guy.  What is that
