The Daily Shoutout: Houston D gets burned

Posted on: December 23, 2011 8:31 am
OPENING HIT: Never believed in the Texans. Thought they were a soft team and when they lost half of their roster to hamstring injuries and busted legs and various other ailments but kept winning with a seventh third string quarterback, thought maybe I was wrong. Then came the Colts game on Thursday night.

Any team that considers itself a serious playoff threat doesn't lose to Dan Orlovsky. They don't let Dan Freaking Orlovsky drive the field on them in the final minutes of the game.

It's hard to kill the Texan offense. It's been critically wounded by injuries. But the defense is another story. That was just terrible. It was borderline inexcusable.

The critics of the Texans now have new rounds of ammo. No way you can take this team seriously when it loses against a team that previously had one victory.

Good luck, Houston.

CONCUSSIONS: I think we're going to see a lot more of these in the future.

The Daily Shoutout: Houston D gets burned

The thing that should be really hard to believe is what the loss of Peyton Manning for a season does to the entire NFL.  The Texans were a surprise and believable team at one point because they kept winning with Arian Foster out at the beginning of the year, Andre Johnson not playing a good portion of the year, losing Mario Williams for the year, and most importantly Matt Schaub.  No matter who the texans lost to injuries the Matt Schaub loss was the biggest.  The main support for this argument is when you take a look at the AFC Playoff picture.... there is no team in the AFC that looking at it right now will be able to keep up with Tom Brady and the Patriots.  The only team that even proposes a threat is the Steelers who do not play the Patriots well in the playoffs.  Most of these games will be a shoot out and no team can keep up with the Patriots in that aspect.  Matt Schaub is the only QB in the league besides Ben Roethlisberger that had a legit chance at doing that this year because of his supporting cast.  The quarterbacks most likely to face Tom Brady and the Pats this year are Joe Flacco, TJ Yates, Ben Roethlisberger, Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, and/or possibly Andy Dalton.  None of these are names can match up with the Pats offense.  Good luck AFC, your only chances are that the steelers or ravens defense finds a way to stifle Tom Brady.  Peyton Manning the AFC needs you back quickly.

The Daily Shoutout: Houston D gets burned

Even the Ravens, on the road no less where the bad teams easily beat them, beat the colts and even managed to really controlled them - Huston,  lossing to the colts!? Hard to believe ...
