Gruden returning to coaching?

Posted on: December 26, 2011 11:50 pm

Jon Gruden is leaning towards returning to coaching, two sources close to the situation confirmed to me.

The San Diego Union-Tribune first reported that Gruden had decided to return to coaching next season.

However, two sources said late Monday night that while Gruden is indeed leaning towards returning, it's not certain. But some of this might be semantics. I'm told Gruden wants to see what positions he could possibly get before making a 100 percent final decision and that he hasn't officially made one yet because of the uncertainty.

(I was also told Gruden didn't expect this news to get out so soon.)

But again, semantics. He wants to come back. That's the important part of this story. And while I fully expect Gruden to issue a statement with some sort of non-denial/denial saying he's happy at ESPN, he's eyeing a return.

Gruden wants to coach again as soon as possible. That part is fact.

"He's ready to leave television," said one source, "but only if the right job is out there."

And that job, as the Union-Tribune reported, could be the St. Louis Rams.

Gruden returning to coaching?

Well this guy I know - has a sister - and her uncle's best friends cousin told her that she heard from her best friends second cousin that this is all true.  I don't know why you people doubt this.

Gruden returning to coaching?

How about Minnesota as a destination, Ponder, Harvin, and AP (Maybe), good base to build around.  Plus they will have a Top 5 pick to use also, could possibly go after RG3 despite already having Harvin.  What is really important is getting rid of Frazier as soon as possible.  Childress got shafted last year, I wish he was still there, I doubt AP would be facing 9+ months of rehab, and hoping that he'll be the same.  Maybe if Gruden does go to Saint Louis, Minnesota could pick up Spagnuolo on the rebound, I think he is getting a bum rap just like Haley did in KC. SHouldn't be pumished for all the injuries sustained in year where there were no off season workouts, and a shortened/rushed training camp.

Gruden returning to coaching?

There is no way a team with that much talent should be underachieving like that.  Chucky would be the perfect guy to come in there, light a fire under their asses and get them playing like the team they should be!

I agree, but this makes too much sense so it probably won't happen

Gruden returning to coaching?

Dust601 - I could not agree more... for some reason he just grates on me when I listen to his announce a football game.  I respect Gruden as a coach, but I can't stand to listen to him as an announcer.

Gruden returning to coaching?

As usual Freeman, worthless info. We all know Gruden wants to coach again and I don't have any unamed sources. I'm beginning to think Freeman's unamed sources are the voices in his head.
