Gruden returning to coaching?

Jon Gruden is leaning towards returning to coaching, two sources close to the situation confirmed to me.

The San Diego Union-Tribune first reported that Gruden had decided to return to coaching next season.

However, two sources said late Monday night that while Gruden is indeed leaning towards returning, it's not certain. But some of this might be semantics. I'm told Gruden wants to see what positions he could possibly get before making a 100 percent final decision and that he hasn't officially made one yet because of the uncertainty.

(I was also told Gruden didn't expect this news to get out so soon.)

But again, semantics. He wants to come back. That's the important part of this story. And while I fully expect Gruden to issue a statement with some sort of non-denial/denial saying he's happy at ESPN, he's eyeing a return.

Gruden wants to coach again as soon as possible. That part is fact.

"He's ready to leave television," said one source, "but only if the right job is out there."

And that job, as the Union-Tribune reported, could be the St. Louis Rams.

Gruden returning to coaching?

we'll take him in Dallas.  get rid of Garrett and take Romo while you're at it.  we need a ballbuster here in Dallas, not Uncle Wade or the red-headed stepchild.

Gruden returning to coaching?

the guy is average at best!  look, he had Da Raiders and left when the Bucs job opened (still don't understand why they fired Dungy) and took a team that was alredy built with a stout defense and a decent O and won it all against his old team.  So he wants to do it again, trying to find a good team and take it over and try to win it all by doing like Switzer (dallas was a well oiled machine all he had to do is just stand there) just stand on the sidelines and look like he's coaching.  you saw after the Bucs won it all and the team began to slowly fall apart he couldn't draft worth crap and soon was shown the door.  I just want him gone from MNF and Jaws too! and pray they get someone worth listening too.  but if he does coach again he will be gone in 3yrs.

Gruden returning to coaching?

You act like you haven't heard the old saying don't say anything bad if you're trying to get in!  He wants to coach again, and he can't say anything bad about anyone because he wants the opportunity to coach and if he's talking bad about players/owners/coaches.....do the math.  lol  But i truly agree!  GET HIS SORRY EVERYONE IS THE BEST comments off the air!

Gruden returning to coaching?

San Jose Mercury News is reporting that Gruden is on the short list (and very much interested) in returning to Oakland in the capacity of GM of the Oakland Raiders. Neither Gruden or anyone within the Raiders organization will confirm or deny this until the end of the season.

Gruden returning to coaching?

I have a super hard time believing "Silent" Stan Kroenke will shell out for Gruden. Just take a look at how nice of a job he's done of neutering the Colorado Avalanche and Arsenal. Guess what St. Louis? He'll be chuckling all the way to the bank with your money too...and barely spending cap MINIMUM on your team. St. Louis will get the cheapest re-tread available or no name, and he'll hire an accountant to be GM. Gruden to SD. Bet on it.

Gruden returning to coaching?

I'd love to see him come (back) to the Eagles if they fire Andy Reid.

Gruden returning to coaching?

One would think Miami or KC might be more attractive- maybe even Indy if the Colts get Luck.

Gruden returning to coaching?

A defense that is talent laden? Well, no. I guess you didn't watch the Detroit game.
Did you watch the game? Because I saw a ridiculously soft zone that gave up big play after big play, moreso than a complete lack of talent... Although the Chargers could be better tacklers, they aren't devoid of talent on defense.

Manusky's game plan was horrible, and he failed to adjust beyond the first drives of the second half.
