Gruden returning to coaching?

Jon Gruden is leaning towards returning to coaching, two sources close to the situation confirmed to me.

The San Diego Union-Tribune first reported that Gruden had decided to return to coaching next season.

However, two sources said late Monday night that while Gruden is indeed leaning towards returning, it's not certain. But some of this might be semantics. I'm told Gruden wants to see what positions he could possibly get before making a 100 percent final decision and that he hasn't officially made one yet because of the uncertainty.

(I was also told Gruden didn't expect this news to get out so soon.)

But again, semantics. He wants to come back. That's the important part of this story. And while I fully expect Gruden to issue a statement with some sort of non-denial/denial saying he's happy at ESPN, he's eyeing a return.

Gruden wants to coach again as soon as possible. That part is fact.

"He's ready to leave television," said one source, "but only if the right job is out there."

And that job, as the Union-Tribune reported, could be the St. Louis Rams.

Gruden returning to coaching?

Better on the sideline than in the booth. Looks like there will be quite a few opportunities...Washington, Colts, Chargers and others.

Gruden returning to coaching?

little caesars,    you are right my friend.   he is the best in football when it comes to knowledge,  and he tells it the way it is.   some others beat around the bush,   he is by far the best   and very intertaining.    my boys in state college, pa   need a great motivator.   i know   everyone thinks NFL and it maybe,   but chucky in beaver stadium  would be great.

Gruden returning to coaching?

If Gruden returns (and I agree his television analysis is thick with goodness), I see 2 teams as possibilites: San Diego (where he has an offense to work with that just needs direction) or Miami (where he'll get in early and get to choose his QB). Either it's back to Cali or staying in Florida.

He's not going to TB or Minn or Dallas (he already did the overbearing owner thing) or Washington (a once epic franchise distroyed by Spurier and Shanahan) or Cleveland. Maybe Jax w/Blaine Gabbert to mentor. But I'll bet he's in coaching next year.

I just hope ABC/ESPN doesn't then add Rick Reilly. We'll be inundated with writer-speak and countless "feel good" stories and hometown reunions.

Gruden returning to coaching?

THANK GOD!!!  I can't stand his commentary on MNF, it's like the "feel good" olympics every week!  EVERY player is "somethin' else" or the BEST player ever when they actually make a play.  I thought for a second there that Tebow was going to be league MVP the way Gruden was  carressing his bottom after every play.  Man, that would be a blessing, put him somewhere where he's not right every play...he's a positive person but it's really redicuous on MNF!!

The NFL needs it's "Chucky doll" back anyway, good coach!

Gruden returning to coaching?

Why would Gruden want to make his return to the NFL as a Head Coach to a Losing Franchise?
That makes no sense.
